Political Ad... 1 day, two lights and an HVX

Down and dirty political ad I shot yesterday for a local candidate here in Concord, NC.

Shot in the interest of time and space at 720 / 24PN, then cut in Vegas with a Raylight conversion. No outside audio tweaking and only one MB effect dropped in at full-strength in one scene.

Master Ped -7
Color +3

"Narration" was a friend of the candidate who was recorded in the practical boardroom location with an AT897 to P2. Sennheiser EVO100 for her bit at the end.

The script was way too tight for thirty, but we had to get it to air tomorrow.

Cheers!

it was fine, the titles at the end on the blue were pretty bad though. I would have done something there. super plain font and on a flat , very blue backround ennnn. not much to comment on it looked like a typical political ad. not much creativity involved there.

agreed. with above.

However it was alot better than some of the crap that airs here.
I always tell my actors or subjects never to wear red.
also she was squinting like the sun was in her eyes, I don't know where the sun was, but I'd try to avoid that.

For a quickie, straightforward shoot, I liked it. Didn't really notice the squinting (or at least it didn't bother me). Text moved a little fast at the end, but I'm sure that was due to the 30 second constraint.

Now you have someone to ask politcal favors from if she gets elected! Like a no-bid contract for all city videography! That's how politics works, right...? Kidding aside, it looked good.

The titles at the end didn't bother me, what got me was tHe narration. Whoever that person is sounds about as exciting as Ben Stein.

McGee - thanks for that note on the font size. It was really hard to see anything cutting in Raylight red - should've jumped from ten point to twelve. I've done a few of these and never had an issue, but some of the newer spots feature more prominent disclaimers now.

I was this || close to re-recording the narration, but the fellow who did it on location is a close friend of the candidate, so there was that. Forget about the fact that we had literally thirty hours from script to deliverable.

Thanks for the feedback.

For what it was, looked good audio was good (boring VO as said above)... But it got to the point and the visuals where nice..

Voice over is terrible, almost put me to sleep. tittle over blue? I am sure you can do better. Legal size is 14 pt. Everything else looks good.
