2008 Movies

I had this really ridiculous dream that the halo movie was made using old 8-bit nintendo style artwork as the CGI work.. I was horrified.. lol.. what a crazy dream.

I am looking forward to Halo... going to be f-ing amazing.. why? cause Bungie.. like Blizzard won't let their baby be misrepresented. That, and they also have creative control over the project.

The Halo story is amazing.... can't wait to see a film about that universe.

(sorry I geeked out for a moment there)

Well, I hope they stick to the story in the Halo books, which was great.

Any word about that "Diablo" film that was announced a year or two ago? I remember that Blizzard didn't want a Vin Diesel movie to use the name "El Diablo" and they went to court over it and won. Since then, I never heard a peep about it.

That's cool that a lot of these films are being made, but come on, 90% of them are sequels or remakes, where's some originality Hollywood? :( (with the exception of Sin City and Narnia, which are new franchises)

new film franchises maybe but i'd like to point out that neither are new creative properties. They're both based off popular literature and have built in audiences.

However these aren't the only movies slated for 2008. Just the ones with some buzz going into production largely because they're established franchises.

I hope we'll hear about at least a few original cool productions in the coming months and year.

For example here's something slated for 2008 that i personally am very anxious to see made.

It's called Silence and Scorsese is attached to direct. Here's the synopsis from IMDB:

Two Jesuit priests, Sebastião Rodrigues and Francis Garrpe, travel to seventeenth century Imperial Japan (wish has isolated itself from all foreign contact) to see how the evangelical mission is going. There they witness the persecution of the Japanese Christians at the hands of their own government who wishes to purge Japan of all western influence. Eventually they separate and Rodrigues travels the country-side, wondering why God remains silent while His children suffer.

Ugh. Remakes of "The Black Hole" and "Conan the Barbarian."

And "The Dirty Dozen." And "Fantastic Planet."
I know...:zombie_smiley:"Ugh" is right!

I also noticed on that list some other remakes in the works...

The Seven Samurai
The Wolf Man
Clash of the Titans
The Changeling
Sharky's Machine
Adventures in Babysitting

-and last, but not least-
Red Sonya

A pair of Sci-Fi flicks on their way to a galaxy near you did catch my eye however...

Flash Gordon
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0421201/

-and-

Ender's Game
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0400403/

...will be interesting to see how they are handled.

Oh...
and then there is that which we shall not mention...

That Ender's Game thing has been around, rumored, announced, and ashcanned more times over the past several years than Wrightsville Beach has grains of sand.

Hollywood!!! Stop with the remakes already. Esp. movies that sucked in the first place...Flash Gordon!!! Red Sonya, Clash of the titans? and leave Adventures in Babysitting alone. that is one of the funniest movies...
Anyone else as tired of remakes as I am? I refuse to see them, rent them etc.

God i haven't been to Wrightsville in years.

Totally. Its almost like those with creativity are been whiped aside for a bunch of stories already told which includes many I never saw or wanted to in the first place. Flash Gordon? WTF

I don't think they are working on another Terminator movie. However, they are coming out with a Terminator television series. But this could be a precursor for a fourth movie, we shall have to wait and see.

That's good news...

I would like to see a Metal Gear Solid movie. I know its rumoured, but I sincerely would want the original creator to direct it (Hideo Kojima). I think the guy has talent and is a good scriptwriter.

As for the ultimate game to movie adaptation, that would be either Zelda (Maybe done by Pixar in 3d, or in real film, directed by Ridley Scott, the guy that directed the first Harry Potter, or Shyamalan?), or an Original Final Fantasy, but no CG. Maybe Final Fantasy 4 and 6 have good plots for movie adaptation?

Recently heard about a new Street Fighter movie coming up- please, no!
