What is wrong with making a film interlaced?

Whats the big visual difference between 30P and 60i? 30P still has a slight frame jitter to it right?

30p is progressive footage 60i is interlaced. And I think there is a little confusion in this thread over that point. Case in point:

I was debating which camera I would buy and I came to the conclusion that if I shoot my movie well, I am willing to do it at 30fps.

24fps takes away the jittering and that is one reason it is used; it makes the movements smooth. I think 30p will have this same effect but will have to be handled more carefully.

I'm going to buy one of those $1,200 HD camcorders, if I can't acquire a FX-1 for $2,500 or under, and I'm making it. We'll see what happens.

I certainly like 30p footage for some things. I definietely dont like the home video look of 60i. Both are edited on a 29.97 timeline as I said one is progressive and one isnt. A $1200 HD camcorder will do 60i but I doubt 30p.

I previously stated that I was not opposed to interlaced footage. I was just assuming that 30p would make motion more smooth. I was willing to deinterlace. I think it's either the dvc30 or the fx1 that I will use if the price is right. But your point is taken.
