problems playing MiniDV tapes in DSR-1500

I'm having problems playing my MiniDV tapes in the DSR-1500. The audio won't play and the image is pixillated. The timecode remains uninterupted however. I have bypassed the problem of digitizing the tapes by playing out from the camera into the DVCAM deck, then into the Avid. But of course this is not ideal as every time a tape is digitized my camera needs to be present.

I'm guessing there is a setting in the DSR-1500 that needs to be changed, but I am well an truely stumped. To add further to the mystery, other MiniDV tapes that have been shot on other cameras seem to play fine. What's going on?!? Any thoughts?

Your camera transport is out of alignment. To check that, try to play your tapes in another camera or deck which is known good, but it's pretty obvious. You need to service and realign your camera.
