I have tried for 2 weeks to get a goddamn tracking number from this guy and he has yet to provide me with a REAL one (he gave me a phony one). He hasn't proved that he shipped it and he hasn't responded since giving me the fake tracking #. I'm hoping that there's some extenuating circumstance but I don't think there is or he'd have said something. He's been extremely evasive throughout the whole thing and I just want my money back. Can anyone defend him? I mean I'd like to hear other people's transaction stories about "Mike Dawson." I've been kind and reasonable but he's fu$%$d this up pretty badly.


P.S. I'll give you (2) days to resolve this Mike D., or I'm posting all of the emails on this thread.
 
Logan, I've read many other posts about this Mike Dawson. You are by far not the only person who is not pleases with the way he does business. If you browse this forum and other forums you will find a couple of very umpleasent posts about him. I truly hope things turn out ok for you. This type of situation sucks. To be honest, taking this situation in consideration, there should be a "market place black list" on this forum (on all forums) for people with this kind of history. I'm sorry if I sound too radical, but I do business on the internet a lot and I simply can't stand this kind of attitude and lack of respect for others.
 
Oh, Logan, if you used paypal you can press charges durring 20 days after the payment was made. There's a special cathegory exactly for situations like this.
 
I totally agree w/ you about the Black List Merchant thing. I hope paypal doesn't screw me on this (although I can't see how they would, I mean, I've got EVERY email and PM so they really can't say much.

I bought a used Glidecam handheld stabilizer from him, but I live in his city and drove to his place to pick it up. He was hard to get a hold of but he didn't seem like a crook at the time.
 
Is it entirely difficult to get my money back from Paypal? I mean I paid him on the 10th (or somewhere around there) and filed a claim today. What are my chances?
 
Based on the threads he's started, he seems to be using DVXUser as his personal marketplace. Hmmmm.

He's in Toronto, perhaps one of our Toronto members could shed a little insight...
 
He does have one of the biggest threads for a 35mm adapter if that consoles you any. He did make a lot for some people and they received theirs.

Hum, I don't know. I don't know if they count weekends when they say the complaint should be made in 20 days after the purchace they. I hope they do, because 20 days is not much if you ship to the other end of the world. I recently shiped to california and it took almost 2 month. Paypal should definetely increase the time allowed to press charges.

PayPal will side with the buyer 99% of the time unless the seller can provide a tracking number. With that said, he could easily send you a box of bricks and show them that tracking number. The only true way to protect yourself is to make the purchase via credit cards. I hope for your sake you loaded that account via a credit card (then you 'll have 6 months to dispute it).

I hope he is not a crook but best of luck to you.
 
Yes, I know nothing about Mike Dawson so I am not commenting on your transation with him...but I have made some purchases from Toronto...it takes several weeks. The DVX batteries for example...Jarred was living in Toronto...and his batteries took 3 weeks to get to me. And everybody knows he is no crook.

Wow! 20 emails in 2 days! I had no idea. I apologi....oh wait. I waited until 9 days after payment for you to give a tracking number and it was actually 7 emails. You're welcome.
 
Man when I first read thread at begining I wanted to hate this guy. Although I have noticed that he has contacted and made right everyother complaint he had from other people. You have to at least give him credit for jumping in the crossfire and responding.
