Video not transgering to tape

Hello,
I bought a jvc 100 a few months ago and have recently encountered a problem. I thought I would present this problem to this forum to get all of your insight and feedback.

Recently while shooting prep football, the image didn't transfer onto my tape. Meaning that the camera acted like I was shooting video, red record light, time code was counting and the tape was rolling, but the video wasn't on the tape. I discussed this with a friend and he told me about wet/dry tapes. I mostly use the same brand of tapes, but I did use two other brands (only two times) before I experienced this problem. This problem only happens sporadicly. I've shot other events without any problems. Lastly this same problem happened a third time while shooting another high school football. Only this time, at the start of the game, I checked tape (thru the camera) I had video. But while I was shooting the image stopped being put down on the tape approx. 8 minutes after I started shooting. I ejected the tape I was shooting on, put in a brand new tape, and the camera would not lay video down onto the brand new tape. After several attempts I unplugged the battery counted to twenty, plugged the battery back on and tried to record video. This time the camera was putting an image onto the tape. So I ejected the brand new tape, inserted the original tape I was shooting on, and the camera worked fine. I shot another twelve minutes of tape and it was all there.

Has anyone else had an issue like this? Any thoughts?
Thank you very much for your time.

This is a well documented bug with a certain run of HD100 cameras that have not been updated to the "A" version. You should try a search on dvinfo.net. I know there are quite a few threads that deal with this problem. Search for "MODE CHANGING."

There is a variation on what you described that can be induced by pressing the record button while a scene file is loading. I was in a hurry and did this once - and lost 15 minutes of footage. I found out I had pressed REC before the COMPLETE! message appeared and never did that again!

Unfortunately, there is no user servicable solution, but the 'A' update should solve this problem (although I have heard of it happening rarely on a A model.)

Your best course of action is to contact your dealer or JVC tech support at 1-800-582-5825.
