Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

just got my ee-a screen in the mail.. im gunna replace my nikon d (the one i have is similar to the ee-a.. just a piece of plastic basically...) anyways. can someone tell me which way to install it? i dont know which way faces the lens and which faces the camera.

the frosted (or ground) side faces your SLR lens, the clear side faces the DVX. If there is a condenser with the screen, the condenser (or curved) side faces the the SLR lens.

generally yes.. but i cant tell the difference with this screen. both sides look the same to me.. one is a little glossier so im guessing that would be the condensor side

The slickest side faces the DVX. If you and the DVX are looking at the screen, the tab should be on the bottom right.

I managed to get a Nikon F3 D screen last week.
That was lucky. It was the last one they had. It's brand new.
Now I'd like to attempt building the "vidwerk35".
Ed, you mentioned the original DVX100(the one I have) has a different minimum focusing distance. Any idea on what mod specs I need to alter to get it to work(ie. extension tubes? etc.).
Thanks, vidwerk.

Vid,

I have a DVX100, and I needed to use a total of +14 (achromat diopter strength) and have the focus screen about 1.5 inches away.

In my next confguration I plan on moving the GG another inch back and loosing one of my achromats. I'm hoping that will cut back on vignetting.

The footage looks pretty good. Seems to be evenly lit across the screen. The two problems I am seeing (and they stem from the same component) is the edge smearing and chromatic aberration. Both are from the asian macro you are using. I know because I've used them before. :D Replace that with an achromat and you'll have a really nice image. Light loss seemed minimal (to be expected from the Ee-A) and the image seemed sharp enough. Nice work and good luck!
I got the 72mm Asian macro thinking that it would have a larger sweet spot and I would be zooming past the edge smearing, but clearly that is not the case. Here is some more footage with the Asian macro. I also just did a bokeh test with a different macro.

Right-click and Save As...
Exterior Day Tree Firetruck (27 sec., 12.2mb, WMV)

Exterior Night Bokeh (1 min. 9 sec., 20.9mb, WMV )

do the bought adapters like the letus35 have a s35 gg capture or is it 35 photo. If its s35 thats means that photo lenses that are used with it have a multiplication factor of 1.5 correct?

hey guys,
my ee-a screen seems to have some stuff on it that will not blow off with compressed air.. does anyone have a way of cleaning the screen?

How you would use this with the 35mm adapter? I have no idea.

Papa: I could'nt open the LCD arm with a screwdriver to toggle that self shoot mode. It's too scary to rip open a DVX.

hehe, yeah i was scared at first, but the only thing holding it in are two little plastic hinges, one of mine actually snapped off, about 1 mm in length, but it stil holds on the other side.

what i eventually did was glued it back on wit ha slight cut out where i can fit a pin through to toggle the self shoot mode.

Scary yes, but absolutely worth it. Now i can use with ease my steadicam and any other hand held style.

(UPDATE SINCE MY LAST POST 15 MIN AGO)

while ive given up on my ee-a screen until i decide to fork out another 32 bucks i went back to my experimental days and saw scotch tape laying there.. now i know what your thinking.. scotch tape? that doesnt work... too much grain....!
before i got into making a vibrating design i said the same thing about scotch tape.. if it werent for those scratchy lines and weird grain the stuff would look pretty good.. but like i said, since those days i have created my own vibrating design.... sooooo i made a square brace out of paper clips, put the scotch tape on there.. mounted to my vibrating design.. and viola. let me tell you.. if your like me and into the look of film (especially 16 or super 16) this will do it. this camera has never produced such 16 looking stuff in my history of dvx and lens adapters.

theres one kicker... you have too shoot 16:9 if not 2.35.1... even tho im mostly making low budget indi flicks that have no place in the epicness of 2.35.1, i dont really care.. i like that aspect and it works perfectly with the 3M35 or SCOTCH35...

let me screw around and figure out my final scotch tape design before i post some images.. (does anyone know if they make a supersized scotch tape roll.. something like the thickness of duct tape?)

So the Scotch Tape you're using is frosted enought to catch the image? The stuff I have seems to be too clear.

ive seen that tape.. but its clear.. 3m has different types of scotch tape.. clear and frosted.. mine is frosted (perfect) it lets in more light than the ee-a screen.. its just a matter of making a frame for the tape and vibrating it
