Hi,

For a transfer to film, is it better to edit in a true 24p timeline or a 23.98 ?

I'm looking for perfect audio synch.

thanks

Hi David,

that would be, and by far, the easiest way.

...but what will happen if i give the Film transfer house an image sequence and an audio file that was syched to video at 23.98 fps ?

It will play a little faster than 23.98 , so...will the audio follow accordingly ?

will they accelerate the audio accordingly ?

This is extremely important because it is a sport commercial, fram accurate image/sound.

thanks

The most accurate way of going about it is to frameserve your project as individual frames -- there's 23.98 there; it's 24 pictures per second.

You would then submit your audio starting on the exact same frame. It will match up.

I wish i understand...

23.98 fps X 30 sec = 719.4 frames
24 fps fps X 30 sec = 720 frames

should not make a huge difference anyway...

thanks David !

if there are any sync issues, they will slow down your sound slightly to match. Edit in 23.98 since you shot digital and the footage is 23.98 anyways.
