"Bloody Mary: A nightmare Collaboration by Mark Harris and Timur Civan"

Fine fine... i'll write a dissertation on Mary Mother of Jesus by 12Am. 15,000 words enough? ;)

btw, i watched your movie again.
god that makeup is sick-ass.

Its actually pretty easy to do. you just have to be a careful in the life casting part. if you make a mistake you can kill someone. The trick is, do one half of the face at a time. front half, then the back half. That way if the castee panics they can pull it off very quickly.

Then the mask making portion is a piece of cake. just paint latex into the cavity of the mold. if you want to do it the right way, you pour a mold making material into the negative, then paint the latex on the positive mold after its released form the negative.. that way the inner surface of the mask fits perfectly on the face of the actor. but thats the VERY expensive and costly way to do it. the materials to make a positive ae very costly cause you use alot of it. Usually you use Algenate. and its almost 200$ a gallon. you would ned like 2 gallons to make a bust maybe more. plaster postives are cheaper but weigh almost 60 pounds and are messy, and shrink too much when they dry.

to do it right you are spending like 1,000$ in materials. our vesion that was effective was about 200$ in materials altogether. start to finish.

This was a really compelling film. Cinematography and acting were exceptional. The only part I have issue with is the beginning. The acting didn't seem up to par until she lights the candle. The slumber party girls came off a bit awkward and the main character's reaction to them seemed a bit clumsy. After the initial bathroom scene, the movie took off into the stratosphere.

Starting strong is generally important though, so maybe it'd be good to be aware of how the 1st 30 seconds are doing in the future.

Your female lead is really talented. I like her subtle stuff the best. Some stuff that didn't ring true was her reaction to being forced into the bathroom, and the way she was forced itself.

Some of the screaming and fear from her was a bit... theatrical.

The black man was pretty scary. He seems like a real talent. His delivery is great.
The mom looked interesting too.

Nice makeup job on Bloody Mary herself. Very creepy and convincing.

Lighting was excellent.

Production design/setting and wardrobe were nice.

The sound was really good too (Except the last lines. What does she say?). I liked the score. Very Hollywood.

Storywise: interesting although a lot was left unexplained. All the character relationships were a bit awkward.
Main character to mom? (Ok, we know she's dead and is sad about it. This is the least awkward)

Main character and slumber party girls? (Ok, she's annoyed by them. But who are these people and why are they acting like this? Maybe it's the casting. They all seem in their 20s. Maybe they should have all been young girls)

Main character and black man? (Was he just the step dad? Did he kill her mom? Yikes!)

Despite these flaws, this movie was among the best. Maybe these holes in the story are deliberate to keep us thinking. If so, I think it could be a bit more clever.

All in all- Good job.

Good luck and have a good weekend.

thank you Mentatduke,

The relation ship between the main charachter and the Step father ( the black guy) was left un classified for a reason. I will have to let mark answer this. because he was VERY VERY specific about each frame of this film. I'll let him handle this.

Yeah, I'm not as happy with the beginning as I could be for the same reason. It just doesn't start off with the punch it should.

yeah, I feel compelled again to say that anything about her performance that doesn't ring true, is due to my directing. She is UNBELIEVABLY talented and quite skilled. I hear what you're saying about theatrical, but I asked her to really go for it and to my eye it comes off as very intense.

Yeah, Godfrey is an old pro, been a pro actor for about 20 years. And one of my oldest friends. If you reall want to see some range, go watch him in my comedy Man-Hole IV at www.desperatecomfort.com.

(Except the last lines. What does she say?).
"Tell me I was right" That's interesting, you are the first person who had trouble understading that. She whispers it at first, and I keep that low specifically to make you go: "What did she say?" Then she screams it.

In the feature script they are all about 12. But I was not confident about getting the performance I wanted in the lead out of a kid that young, so bumped it. That said, my girlfriend and her friends - all in grad school - have slumber parties all the time. Weird, but true.

Main character and black man? (Was he just the step dad? Did he kill her mom? Yikes!)
Step father. That should have been clarified more I think. He has one line in there that goes: "It's your home too..."

Despite these flaws, this movie was among the best. Maybe these holes in the story are deliberate to keep us thinking. If so, I think it could be a bit more clever.

Thanks for dropping by to check us out!!!

Thanks for the response. I should have turned my speakers up a bit for the last line. What happened in the past between the step dad and the daughter? They seemed to have... "issues".

Also, did he kill the mom or was that a weird vision?

Good work.

Time to check out Man-Hole. Better not be what I think it is.... :)

Oh it is, but watch IV, that one is very low-key and you can see Godfrey's work in there.

Between the step-dad and the girl, basically the back-story is that the mother remarried this guy and he's an abuser. An alcoholic and abuser. So the past is riddled with him hitting the mom, etc.

As for killing the mom, that is what I wanted to leave open in the short: And that is what the last line is all about: "Tell me I was right" The ghost leads her on to this murder, but was it all in her head. I talk about this in depth about 2 or 3 pages back.

all the manhole movies are great. it really shows how good a writing team Mark and David McKenna are. #4 is the "most" serious one but probably just cause its longer than the rest. The charachters arent forced to just deliver jokes. it shows off Dana's, Mark riccadonnas, and godfreys skill as actors.

Congrats people! It looks as if you guys are in the top 10! (from what I've been seeing anyways)

Good luck:thumbup:
