the WAITING KINDRED ---"A HORRIFYING MUST SEE MOVIE!!!"

I watched this film last night.

I loved the beginning narrative, and the way you tied it to the illustrations. I thought the VO was done well too...it fit.

Story is where it is lacking for me though. I mean technically, everything is done fine, but it seemed as though I was watching the first couple minutes of a movie, and missed the rest...not watching a short.

Liked it visually though. Thanks,

man that was good! coming from the acting background and not much on tech stuff (but i loved it) i had to see this about 5 times! (don't tell the others) i could only see theirs once. SIMPLY BRILLANT!

Who was that guy, the actor, I mean, in the story that is.
The zombie that comes out of the wall looks like it came from a video game.
The blood is nice, but isn't realstic enough for a movie, agian, looks like a video game.
What happened?
There's some wanky green screening, but overall I think you did a very nice job. it held my attention, even if only for two minutes.
Good work!:)

Thanks man. Yeah you actually did miss the rest...lol :)cause I didn't get to put it all in. This is not the original story at all. There were so many things I didn't get a chance to touch up or complete that I had snatched the movie out of the fest. Till a few really cool people here convinced me to at least put in what I had. So I did. There was some dialogue between the two characters and also three more monsters that where recorded & animated that i wish i could have finished in time. The intro was added last minute to try and at lest give some form of a possible story.
Glad you like the visuals. Thanks

Oh uh yeah that guy is me.:Drogar-Evil(DBG): But as far as in the story he is one of the two brothers who finds the box. (He gets the cursed ring)

Yeah there are quite a few quirks and kinks in the GS sequences that I had planned on going back to tweek. But time and my boss hates me.:( Cool enough though, the only shot that has no GS would be the door scene.
Thanks man!

Wow! 5 times!!! Thanks man that is soo cool.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I guess shooting each take about five times evens it out. Being the director and the actor is painfully fun:huh::Drogar-Smoke(DBG):.
Thanks a TON man!

I'm at work sneaking a peek at the entrys and I skimmed through the list and came to you! And I must say. I'm impressed. But I'm going to come back to you after I've seen the rest.

So how long did you actually have to work on this flick. Cause I stayed up all night and watched just about every entry and I noticed that everyone else's is way longer. Second question is, Was this meant to be a teaser?

I thought the VFX in this were pretty gnarly. Good job on those!

One thing I wanted to add though is that reading back about 5 pages made me shake my head a few times. We're suppose to be helping eachother.

Short comment:
Although the visuals where done pretty good, it looked a bit funny/video gameish.
The animation with narration was great and the switch from the animated you to the real you was perfect.
I read that you couldnt put in the whole story you wanted, so you prolly not surprised if I say that the story was the weakest point. A pity, I'm interested to see what you could have done with more time.

Yeah I'm trying to see if I can get another free day to edit more and tweak the effects. Most of the VFX you see are tests and have a much more realistic effect in the final outcome. Just hope I can find another gap in my work schedule.

Thanks guys!

I'd like to see more of this one when it's finished. It seemed to be the beginning of something that was pretty original.

One suggestion: when you cut from the greenscreen shots to the live action shots, there is just too much of a difference in look. Maybe you could make the live-action stuff look more like cg because I'm sure that making the cg look totally real would be a lot harder.

posted a guest book message on your site illagillainmanilla (can't remember) anyway i think you deserve a prize just for the all the facts:
1.U did it all by yourself
2. U had 9 days (!?!?) of when u first started the hype
3. Great CG

Too bad i havent got 100 posts yet (in a year even!).
Maybe make a short making-of...id like to know how you got camera movement in front of a greenscreen if no one is holding the camera since you were in front of it...

I like the artwork integration, i'm doing something like that myself right now for a short...at least it was intended, the lazy a$$ art student i paid to do it is not getting a move on, thus delaying the finished product...if u wanna take his place, let me know!

Is that avatar your artwork too? dig the style..

Yeah, I agree. Maybe I should have tried to make the entire thing look like a video game. That would have made it all tie together better + would have taken way less time. But I'm gonna still finish it. With a little more attention to detail and it's done. Thanks :)

What did you use to create the VFX?

I fly back a forwards through multiple apps till I get what I'm looking for. All my graphic and software skills are self taught. So if I can't figure out how to do it one way, I'll find another. Though I use way more than just these few...These are the apps I used to get what you saw.
PS for poster work backgrounds and fill in image editing
flash8 some particle effects + scripting and other little animations + scripting
A beta 3D app & Zbrush for modeling & environment.
AE for all the Green screen
Avid for edit
Vegas for scoring and final export. :)

WOW thanx The-Intern. Yeah don't feel bad about the 100 post thing, When I first started promoting I only had like 12 posts for a year as well. But as soon as I got my promo engine running, In a little to no time I was well over 100 before the voting started. YOU CAN DO IT!

I was wondering who would spot the camera work. It's all simple tricks. (I KNOW MAGIC) Okay no I don't. Some scenes (which there are very few) I simply edited the camera movements in post or shot the scene first then added me later. And others are all CG.:)

Thanks a mill + for signing the guestbook on my site.

Oh and it's IllaGillaEntertainment lol:Drogar-Evil(DBG):
P.S and Yep I did the avatar too. Thanx Bro

you're not related to David Blaine or anything right? Project your astral body to act, while the physical body operates the camera...then if you would have split personality disorder, you could project an extra self to hold the mic...maybe an inner child to setup the lighting???
Well it does sound like hocus pocus to me, 'editing camera movements in post' or 'adding yourself in later'....do you even NEED an HVX to shoot your next film? If you win it, just donate it to my cause my man, cuz i gotta do other stuff than im doing now...(editing footage of fat rappers at a sate eating contest-no not my idea...)

Ha ha lol. Yes i do. And if I don't win, I'm gonna do another horror short called "How to Become an HVX" And a whole crew of ME will shoot it. lol.:Drogar-Evil(DBG)::Drogar-Dum(DBG)::Drogar-Smoke(DBG): Sadly enought though I don't think enought people have me on their favorite's list to win. But thanks for the faith bro, They say all you need is as much as a mustard seed (or something like that lol)
