Problem with slowmo shots...

HI all,

I use the following:
-Avid Express Pro HD
-CanopusProCoder (to get the QTReferences to any other format)

I have the following problem that might bee a bit stupid since I’m a beginner:

When in a normal 25i project, I use slow motion or fast motion clips created in Avid 5.0 (I use the Duplicate Field option), when exporting for example to DVD all the shots that were slowed or fastened appear in a much worst quality than the rest of the video. They are pixelated. I´ve tried everything (like rendering before exporting) but nothing works. Can someone help me on this?

I use the following:
-Avid Express Pro HD
-CanopusProCoder (to get the QTReferences to any other format)

Could CanopusProCoder be the problem? Should I change to Sorenson Squeeze?

Thanks a lot.

slow motion has everything to do with how you shoot it - did you shoot it in 50i? if so, slow it to 50% to get the look you want. -- another user on here, a friend of mine named mark, pointed out to me that you should interpret your footage first in AE to get each field separated. THEN you apply the 50% slowdown (understand that taking a 50fps clip and slowing it down 50% will make it 25fps, which will match your timeline speed.)

assuming you know this... then i would look at the encoder.

Ok , thanks for the tip...

I think the problem might be in the encoder..

The result is a pixelated image ONLY on the shots that have been slowed or fastened...like if the final result was some kind of draft..

Anyways , thanks for the response!
