"Bloody Mary: A nightmare Collaboration by Mark Harris and Timur Civan"

I have this huge laughing-grin on my face. VersuS just made a reference in another thread.

I auditioned her for the lead, but when I didn't cast her she asked about this part. She wanted to do it....well until about the second day of getting into that make-up :)
 
Your lead lady was fantastic! Great casting choice there!!! Curious about the BTS shots of her in a body cast. Was that something that didn't make the cut or do I just miss it?
 
I bet she was terribly grossed out. -- she scared me the most, though!!

Love everything about this clip.. I must admit I was totally lost on the story line at first ...until it was explained to me last night ..It would seem there is so many variations of this story .

So I guess the mother got her daughter to do some revenge killing and in the end scene (AWSOME!!) wondered if she did the right thing .SOO did the girl imagine it (mother) and killed an innocent man ?

I had 5 people watch it and we all had a different take on it .

Other than that ..What a short !!

I'm gonna be honest. your main lead is just skirting the edge of overacting. But you know what? Its killer. In the last scene she's just on the edge of out of her f'ing gourd. If you reign her in a bit, you could really use her in some incredible parts.

She sold being completely f'king nuts. Bit too well honestly, I think if you brought down the over-the-top stuff, she'd be awesome. I'd kill to have an actress like that in my locale.

Well, to be honest, if there is any fault in that, it's my directing. She was so wonderful about trusting me and going where I told her to go with full commitment. I would like to have more varition in the performance, but again, the fault is all mine. I am reading her for what I hope will be my next short, a Noir piece. Yes, I want to keep her in the fold.

Yeah, it gets abstract and "dream logic" and not entirely clear on first viewing, to be sure. My hope was to have it be disjointed enough that you would HAVE to think about it, and I hoped that the short would be compelling enough that you would WANT to come back and figure it out. Some of my favorite films are like that: 2001, Primer, for example. I've watched Primer probably 2 dozen times, and though there is much about it that's unclear, the movie is really striking enough that I WANT to see it again and try to interpret it.

Body cast was for Rachel, the hot one dressed up as Bloody Mary. The body cast was to create the mask, so we didn't have to make her up every day.
 
"Uhh.. Hey Dude... this is Bloody mary.... Youre step dad just cut my throat."

Anyone who has ever gotten a voicemail fro mJDS will understand.....
