4:3 footage that needs to be 16:9-Help

I have some DV footage shot in 4:3 that needs to be 16:9. Is there a software program that will uprez the footage so that it can then be cropped properly? The framing is too tight just to throw letterbox on. Any possible solutions?

if the framing is "too tight for letterboxing" then no there's nothing you can do... I mean, think about it.

You can try Instant HD from Red Giant Software, but I believe that will just make it 4:3 HD. You would still have to crop the resulting video, and possibly uprez that again.

You should be able to crop the footage and export as 16:9 from just about any NLE. But as CS77 says, it'll probably result in cropping stuff you don't want cropped, but you can't do anything about it.
