Great Newegg-Panasonic DVX/rebate experience

Hello,

With all the questions and some reports of problems, I thought I would relate my excellent experience getting my DVX100B from NewEgg and then also the book, discs, and rebate.

I'd shopped around, like others, and found that NewEgg had the lowest price of the non-NYC outfits (grey market ripe). Got the unit quickly, double-boxed. Was a little thrown by not seeing the book or discs in box, but figured it was OK with the form in the box. Decided to go on-line and fill in the registration.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that my entry was immediately set up for processing, and within a few days, both the book/disc set and the check were processed. Less than a week later, I got my book and discs. Then, the long wait for the check.

Well, Friday, just less than four weeks from the processing of the rebate check, it showed up in the mail.

So, kudos to NewEgg. Kudos to Panasonic. And, kudos to ACB Rebates.

So did you send stuff to panasonic and get magic bullet and the dvx book? Im confused. Newegg is awesome.

I talked to NewEgg and they could not promise a USA model. What did they tell you?

Hello,

Sorry for any confusion. I never asked NewEgg to promise a USA model, etc in advance. I (perhaps unwisely) took it on faith that, with so many positive experiences, I'd be getting a USA model. Whatever it is I got, it qualified for the book, discs, and rebate, 'cause I got all of the above.

So, to DANIMAL, yes I sent my registration electronically using the site that you get taken to through the URL on the form in the box (whew). I got Magic Bullet and InstantHD, and the Barry Green book, and (ultimately) the rebate check.

Hope that clears things up.

PS. Zim, I suppose I could ask someone what USA model serial numbers are supposed to start with and tell you for sure what I got; right now, I can only deduce that it's a valid USA model. However, I've seen Jan Crittenden say on these pages that, as far as NewEgg buyers of DVX100s are concerned, some do qualify for the rebate and some don't. Not sure how to interpret that...

Newegg told me that don't know what model Panasonic will send them. But if I got a non USA model I could send it back.

Why do companies send out grey market stuff anyway?

Interesting, NewEgg's put the shoe on Panasonic's foot. I wonder if Jan's around.... ;-)

It's good, though, that NewEgg said they'd accept a return of a non-USA model... (and just as good that you've posted that tidbit here; I suspect that's news to most of us).

I was surprised since I've seen several people here talk about getting rebates after buyin from Newwgg.

If NewEgg is referencing "what Panasonic will send them" then you're safe. If they're dealing with Pana direct, then they'll get the right models. Gray market goods come through a third-party in another country.

this is good to hear, I recieved my dvx from new egg like a month ago, I printed out the form from the link on the new egg site for the rebate, book, and software... sent it in about two weeks later so anytime this week then I should be recieving at least the soft ware and book and then wait a bit more for the check? is there a way to verify with them that my mail was received and all? I havene't received an email or anything and I am pretty sure I put my email addy on the form.

well I am repeating things that have allready been said,k but anyways good to hear your stuff went through the internet way, hope the mail thing works out for me soon, would like the book to bring in to work...

I guess i should chime in. I got my DVX back in March from Newegg, and got the rebate about 3 months later. Never the less, the experence was flawless. I would presume that they are getting their DVX's from panasonic and not a shady third party vender.

pansonic-newegg deal doing me right. just incase my post left a question, got my book and my software yesturday with a note that my check would take another couple weeks to come. thanks to both companies for a perfect deal (i did the print out mail in method)
