Wages of Sin 1st trailer...

i didnt find the music that bad.. but i dont know if you had it changed by the time i saw it just a minute ago.

the only thing is the drum sound like ****.

I think there is too much discussion about the choice of songs he used.

What seems to turn me off from this trailer is how he didnt effectively use the loops (or songs). They seemed to jumpy, coming out of nowhere and ending for no apparent reason.

Go onto youtube, or apple and see all the trailers done there.
You will notice songs progressively change, same tune, but a little harder or faster.
Changing one song to another in a short 1 minute trailer is a fault, and I think thats what bothered me the most.

also, its been said before..but the gun noises.

other than that man, i really would like to see the whole thing. :)

I believe that's what most of us are addressing. Loops are ok if you stack and compose them effectivly, but for the most art its just the defualt string loop, the ethnic strings loop, and a bass loop. then the bass loop with a drum loop over it. There's no rhyme or reason why one of those loops should go next to each other. I think the loops would be fine if more time went into actually creating music for the piece rather than just grabbing a couple loops.

do some audio recordings for sound effects, you really need it. I agree with the music, its partially the music itself but really on how you used the music. You have to spend as much effort editing the audio to the film as much as you do editing the actual film.

The film itself looked decent with a couple of wierd compositions here and there but some of the cuts seemed odd to me but that could also be because of the audio. i dunno I just think u need to make a 2nd version of the trailer.

gj on getting this done thus far. We are just a bunch of critics tryin ta help.

Perhaps he wanted to use a, considered by some, cheesy and "easily identifiable" garageband loop.

Actually all of that is one song. Check out the go to http://www.myspace.com/rgear and listen to the song Southside Base. You'll hear that all this is one song. As a matter of fact the whole soundtrack is done with Garage Band and a keyboard with some additional guitar. BTW we have another trailer on YouTube. I didn't post it on MySpace because they were having some kind of problem. See the urls below:

nathyn, the fact that people think your clumbsily chopping up different songs should be your clue that it doesn't sound like song. It sounds like you're really bad at editing sound.

again, we're not saying the rest of the trailer is bad, just that you need to fire the band doing the music. it's making YOU look bad, why let that happen, just use different music

I'm not trying to punk out but actually no one has had these complaints. Everyone whose seen the trailers love them. Out of all the critiques I've gotten no one has mentioned the music until you guys.

ok, then i guess that's that. we've said our piece and it's totally up to you to make the creative decisions on your movie.

Just remember, you're much more likely to get honest, helpful advice from here then from anyone you know personally.

You need to stop showing your friends / family etc... random strangers all collectively saying "this sucks" is usually a good indicator that something is not working.

Garageband loops are garageband loops. And too me that says bad music. People use garageband loops to mockup a song or mix in those loops to other music, they don't use them solely as a standalone piece of music.

The sound is bad in this trailer. I don't see the logic in posting a trailer that sounds this horrible. It just makes it feel like amateur hour. Wait till your further along with your sound work. If you want this to go anywhere spend the time on getting proper soundwork.

Thats my opinion on it. No need to fire shots in my direction.

just remember, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one.

even me.

PS: youtube version with only music and no sound is a hundred times better.

Dude, take it easy. You're getting all swoll up in the chest over nothing. These aren't the final trailers. I just posted something for you guys and the YouTube/MySpace communities because people were asking for them so you can get an idea about what I'm doing. As a matter of fact the stuff you're talking about is already fixed but we're not showing those trailers yet because they reveal some of our marketing plan. And the music still stays.
