Wages of Sin 1st trailer...

I dont know if you wanted criticism for the trailer or not. But i think you should work on the music/sound for the trailer. Obviously they are garage band loops. But even so, they feel like they are forced in. Music doesn't flow what so ever.

different music is a must, and if possible, abandon the garageband loops. They are far too recognizable and scream "I'm cheap and don't know what I'm doing". Not that you are, but you don't want people thinking it if you can avoid it :)

I think that you have a lot of good shots, the editing is smooth, but I think that the acting really needs to be as good as the story and the martial arts. As a filmmaker and former stunt-fight coordinator and blackbelt, I think that the action has to be shot more cinematically, not just a handheld while you and the bad guy run throw a choreographed fight. It has to look more instinct-like, more quick and sudden, and not so much like a choreographed dance. I'd look over some more films and study their angles and editing makes even Keanu Reeves look decent, but not great, like in the Matrix. Stripping down the special effects, I'd re-do all the gun bursts and work on the color ane get rid of all the music and go for your style. We'd all heard those loops before. Story is the heart of the film, make the acting support it. You're going in the right direction! Keep it up.

I thought it was good, it's supposed to be cheesy, right?
It's a B-grade actioner with shouts out to B-grade action films including El Mariachi. There's even some shouts out to Tarantino too. You'd have to see the whole thing to really enjoy it but there's influences from everybody from Michael Dudikoff (American Ninja) to Jet Li. So you'd have to be into these kinds of films. The music will probably stay considering most people don't seem to mind or even know it's an apple loop plus it's part of a song that's on the soundtrack. I have done another cut of the trailer but it won't be revealed for awhile.

I just checked out the trailer. I agree with the comments on the audio. Some of the scenes audio levels don't match and they jump from higher to lower. I can see the tarantino influences in the shots. I do think that for a action trailer there should be more action in it. The semi auto gun shots sounded like a toy pop gun. I think you are doing a good job but just some minor tweaking will do the trick

the music is from a song that's IN your movie? You really gotta do something about that. Anyone who owns an apple computer recongizes those loops and the effort put into the soundtrack. I really dont think that's the impression you wanna make.

Looks like you worked hard on this and it does look good.

I personally don't own and apple and I usually cut on Avid system, so to me it was cool. I was like bad ass music...lol

But then not everybody is an editor or owns an apple, but don't expect any awards or good feedback from the guys that on this forum or anybody else that is into film making.

But still, all you got to do is hire a sound guy and maybe a composer...you can even get people to do it for credit.... then your movie wiill really be as awesome all around.

In short, you can't underestimate sound!!11111

Actually we are looking at some sound smoothing and leveling more than anything. As far as the music goes in this community many of us own Macs, in the real world most do not. (10% or less of the population). And many new owners who buy Mac (believe it or not) are not particularly artist/musicians. My producer edits on a Mac all the time and has never even used Soundtrack or Garage Band, but then again he is a hip-hop producer as well so he's owns profession software. The music will probably stay considering most will not catch it. The sound, that another story. Sound quality plagued us in our last project, but we will be very serious about sound in this one.

Sound is almost if not more important then the FIlm it's self. Even a basic scene can be turned into something powerful with the right effects, sound and music.

This is actually very true and we will continue to work on it.

You have some pretty cool shots there, and there are some impressive martial arts moves. But the trailer as it stands now seems a bit disjointed. Like the bit where you pause...seemed like it was a mistake, rather than intentional. Otherwise you've got some nice shots and CC going on

cool shots, but damn, 5 mins of garageband an i can make something 10 times better.

PS: im not just saying that cause everyone else did. that music stood out like a sore thumb.

That's not the point, You dont need to come at us with statistics...As a filmmaker dont you feel cheap just throwing a loop on your own work? Cuz it's EASY. You shouldnt have to worry about your audience when your music is original.

I didn't throw a loop on anything. That song is on our soundtrack.

Thanks you but which part did I pause? I looked it over and couldn't find anything. Explain further. Was it martial arts or what or are you talking about the freeze frames, which was my next assumption.
