Round 8 - DVXUser Photography Contest

The pics are up! If you submitted and it's not up there, send me a PM. It's the first time I've uploaded pics.:)

Horse you did a damn fine job, because my pic was there, and that's really all that matters. In case you're wondering, mine was the super fantastic one.

Seriously though, great pics from everyone. I left my comments and I will vote shortly.

Sweet! I was going to just upload mine, but then everyone would just rate it a zero, so I opted to not abuse the power.:)

Thank you to Horse who posted these images for me. As some of you know I have been insanely busy lately with a couple of projects so I haven't been able to give the attention to these contests that this deserves. That being said, I will do Week 9 now and then we will have a 1 week break and then the massive Week 10 will be announced. This will be the biggest yet.

Sorry about not being around much lately but when it rains it pours.

Here is my submission:

The illusion here is the reverse panning of the car's angle. The car is simply taking a right turn and I followed it with a kind of opposite movement that is viewable from the streaks of light leaning to the left.
Processing was minimal, +10 contrast, +14 saturation.

Here's mine:

I looked out my front window and saw this geyser behind the house on the corner. I missed the accident itself by about three minutes. Hit and run...

Mine is "Ambulance"
Ambulance.jpg

The story behind the picture is actually pretty funny.
I spent the evening at a horse racing track taking loads of motion pictures (see the one I posted earlier in the thread).
At the end of the night, the standby ambulance was slowly making it's way out from the staging area and trigger happy me pulled up my camera one more time and grabbed 3 quick-fire shots.
The Ambulance was moving about 5mph. Really.
But with just the right panning and a good feeling for shutter speeds I'd gained during the night of practicing with the horses it turned out to be my favorate shot of the night.

For those that commented on colors, the ambulances here are actually bright yellow - the color you see in the picture.

There is actually very little done in photoshop to this image. Just a little bit of saturation added.

I considered adding in some blue lights to complete the picture, but settled on the raw frame as more belivable and alowing the motion alone to carry the illusion of an ambulance responding at high speed.

This was mine, I took it on my way home from work. It's a short drive so I only took 3 of em and this was the best. I wonder what the other cars though as they saw my flash going off in the car. I realize now that I need to take my golf glove off between shots. Or just put my hand in a tanning bed for 10 minutes to even it out. 6 sec. exposure with flash. Canon Powershot A95.
