I love the new design. Much more sleek than the previous one. Will the prices be the same that you listed on the website? I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Looks nice, will there be a Sony V-mount ioption for those of us with those batteries?

Thanks

Matt G

Yes Matt,

The V-mount is in the works. It will likely be added after the release. It seems that almost everyone wanted the A/B, so we wanted to get that incorporated first.

David, AMAZING!

The cineporter is looking 100% professional. Your much spent time shows in the wonderful design and it is apparent that it was very well spent.

I never thought the original cineporter could have advanced and improved in design so much, but it has!

I am at a loss for words. I am just going to stare at the renderings now. :)

The new chassis is actually stronger, so we are looking at loosing a couple of ounces. We won't have accurate figures though, until the metal prototypes are completed.

OH MY GOD. That is the best Exploded view I have EVER seen. Looks complicated. Why the choice of 512mb of RAM and will upgrading the RAM to 1gig make any faster?

Not that I can really foresee any situation where I would end up using all the space on the drive, will it be possible to replace the 160GB Drive with a bigger drive? I guess it's also important to know if the drive dies.

I believe David has mentioned the possibility of upgrading a 160GB model to the 320 GB model by sending it to them.

WEll if you are talking about getting a 160gig and want to upgrade. The answer is yes. You can send the unit back, and they will put another 160gig and program it to work. I know.. Another amazing feature :) Not to mention firmware updates :)

The diagram shows 2 160GB drives allowing either a 320GB or 160GB RAID operation. They should be identical. If one fails, you can send it in and we will replace and format it correctly. If the particular model drive is no longer available, both drives would have to be replace with a different model. As drive capacities increase, we will have larger units available. Same goes for the single drive model.

From our tests, we found that 256MB is plenty for most situations. More RAM does not really provide additional protection or speed. In the worst case scenario, 512MB provides about 30sec. of cache, which is more than enough to cover even a drive shut-down and restart in the event of a hard shock, for example.

I am sure SpecComm is just as anxious to give a date, as we are to hear one. It is one of those things where asking, only creates less time to focus on the project, becasue they are answering the same question over and over again.

I know David, Andrew and the rest of SpecComm are working extremely hard to get this to the hands of the whole industry. Their goal is to make a superior product, and a product that will revolutionize the industry standards. And of course, they want a return on the close to, if not, OVER a Million Dollars that have already invested in this personal project.

Imagine this: I (my company) are only buying one, possibly two. Then you have another company (NBC, ABC, or CBS, ENTER MOTION PICTURE NAME HERE) They ONLY buy in bulk. So a couple hundred. I am sure they are MORE anxious than me.

Haha, I dont have my hands in the cookie jar, but I am putting money in it when I buy a CinePorter. I can buy a cheap car with this, but when I have CinePorter, I can get a project that will buy me a house, well, atleast 10% down. :)

The people over at SpecComm, I consider friends, and supporting friends with encouragement is all I can do.
