Hello ladies and gents,

This reel is for a company that is asking me for a reel that consist of my Editing and camera work along with AE work. AE work consists of rotos, green screen, special effects, lighting effects, and lots of messing with text animations and what not.

u know the drill, right click this suckas.

http://www.thinkslinks.com/demoreel/roughcutslinksreel.wmv 19.5 MB

only thing not shot by me was Steven Colbert(guy with light saber)...that clip was just used to show the stages of greenscreen.

Let me know if anything sticks out like a sore thumb.

I'm biased about my stuff so I love it all but do you guys think its too long? or is this ok?

I know some cuts need to be tightened, the sides of the frame has issues during the logo's section, and I will add more text in some areas.

I'll update this with my final on sunday night/monday morning but for now can anyone give me some feedback on this? Don't hold back now. :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

thanks a bunch :dankk2:

Looking good. I'd deinterlace all the interlaced footage, and consider cutting the two thinkslinks.com pieces - they don't seem as polished as the rest of the AE stuff. You also have a lot of dancing stuff, so maybe cut the shot at around 1:50 with the guy bouncing his knee in the foreground.

thx for the input, yea those 2 pieces were kind of rushed, I can still tweak those out actually. I'll probably replace that 1 dancing dude.

its funny tho, I wonder why its interlacing...Its all 24p or 24pa. Am I doing something wrong? I guess I'll look more into it. All that seems to go away on dvd though when played on TV right?

thx for the input luster.

The shot of the girl in the hot tub near the end doesn't really fit.
A lot of the footage in the beginning seems to depend on the talent of the actors (breakdancing, etc.). Once it picked up a bit it got a lot better though.

nice, i like it. could be a bit shorter, but i don't know if i'd drop the clip of the girl in the hot tub... i mean, common! ha

I noticed during some shots where there was alot of black border u could catch a little video playin outside the boreder at the very side edges. That and the interlacing were the two big things i noticed, good choice of music though and some very good shots, really liked the time lapse stuff!

Too long, take the rock video at the beggining out(not very well shot) as well as the girl in the bath tub. Make it shorter, and don't repeat shots. You are always better off showing less but good stuff than the other way around, quality not quantity...

whoa...I come back to a lot of comments. At 1st I thought no one was commenting because it sucked lol.
Yea I definitely will make a tighter version of this. The more I watch it the more I want to change things.

ha! Noah yea it actually does look quite similar but I was actually thinking more along the lines of a matrix type look like it was in cyberspace. I was gonna add some green 0's and 1's in the background but I was satisfied with what I had so far and plus the whole matrix green text thing might come out too cheesy.
I really liked your reel by the way noah, especially the fight club type scene in the music vid.

Thanks again for the input everyone. It really helps a lot.
Friends tell me it's fine but I didn't think so lol.

Keep em comin!

I planned to post up a pt 2 of the reel today errr...yesterday I mean but I got caught up with a lot of things over the weekend. I'll try to have it up sometime soon.

I liked it. It was a tad long but it was good but not necessarily in a bad way. It showed a lot of different things in it, which I liked, versatility is a always a plus. I liked the green screen ninja and how that sequence turned out. I loved the different speeds in the time lapse. I would have liked to see different angles when the two dudes fight on the beach.
Keep the girl in the hot tub, she's hot and the colors look good. It almost looks like it was an outtake from something w/ the giggle at the end.
Good work though, I liked it a lot.

hey paolo, nice work! even though you didn't do the colbert shot, i'm trying to do a light saber segment in a fight video i'm making. any ideas for pulling off the light sabor in post? is it a matter of just getting a uniform-colored stick, keying it, and then masking some kind of glow-object behind it, or is there a simpler way? thanks man
