Stumbled into the grey market

Not exactly about DVX. Looked for a cheap panny ($400) and found one at an online store. Ordered it only to later see location address: Brooklyn!!! (butterfly photo) So I un-cautiously fell into the grey market. According to the tracking #, its on the way, so I at least know there'll be no problems with shipping. Assuming the camera will be okay, what should I do now? Close my credit card? Pray?

Well.... if they are not an authorized panasonic dealer, there may not be much you can do.

If you get the camera, the only real consequences of it being a gray market will be that you won't get the manufacturers warranty, any rebates, etc.

If you get the camera.

If you don't get the camera, you paid with a credit card, so you just dispute the charges or something. You should be fine as far as not being out any money. Credit cards will offer you protection where many of the fake visa type debit cards will not

That's the best I can tell you right now.

Hope it's ok

Woah there Ramjet the debit cards are not your so called FAKE Visa cards, Visa only handles the transactions through the Visa channels.

Best,

Rob

I know. It is a common name for them, is all. Just a slang term. They are often called fake visa cards, because they are debit cards and not credit cards, and as a result do not often offer you the protection that a "real" credit card does, such as the ability to dispute charges, etc. within ninety days of the transaction.
Some of the "fake" visa cards these days are offering those protections, it just varies from bank to bank.
