Motivity Pictures HVX Workflow

Great stuff, David. It's great seeing the different things you and Cassidy have shot since I first saw your Oppenheimer commercial. I loved the Grand Rapids Griffins footage, too. So, content, awesome!

As far as the "selling" point of the spot, I think it is very educational to your workflow, while not making the potential client feel stupid or ignorant. Very nicely done.

If possible clients see this "webmercial", and are really serious about seeking out a production team, I would bet you'll be turning down work as you'll be inundated with projects.

(Nice modeling on the P2 card, by the way.:))

For some reason the sound seems really muffled and dull on my system and didn't live up to the visuals-- I went for the Cable/DSL version. Did anyone else run into that?

Awesome

Awesome

I really enjoyed your work.Your footage looks amazing! What program are you using to create your text and graphics?

Same. It sounds like a phase misalignment. Nice promo though, great titling. Which programme did you use?

David. I was looking at some of the other stuff on your site. On the wedding clip. Did you do the whole wedding cermony as well, I'm assuming? You didn't just use p2 cards for that did you? Could you share some of your workflow for the wedding in particular please. Great work you are doing by the way, as if you didn't know :)

Thanks
Jason

Hi Cassidy and David, what is that dolly you are using? Also did you filter a lot of the shots through "magic bullet look" or similar. Nice look.

Hollywood micro dolly. Yes we used magic bullet. But a lot of footage is actually untouched.

I actuallly did shoot the entire ceremony. I used an external Lacie and captured through my powerbook directly to the hard drive. I think the wedding ceremony took aobut 30 GB. I wouldn't recommend this only because it's pretty tedious but I think if you have some money and must do longer record times just buy the cineporter from specialized communications.

Everything else I would just shoot to the P2 card. When it was full I transfered to my powerbook. Very similar workflow to shooting with film in that I have 10 minutes of record time. i am very selective with my shots. It also makes it a lot easier to edit with. 95% of my shots make the edit.

What do you guys use for the CGI and titles? Was the CG theater a template or did you create that one? Looks cool.... just time intensive.

Everthing in the video we either shot or created. Including CG work. The theatre was all created by Motivity, sort of cheesy I know but we were trying to make a point about aspect ratios so the photorealism was not our objective.

Thanks Motivity. Yeah, I am planning on getting a couple of cineporters when they are available. Until then, I will probably hold off on doing to much with weddings, as they would have to be mini dv. Maybe a few smaller ones in the beginning.

Thanks
Jason

Wow, the wedding stuff looks great. The best I've seen.. The workflow promo is very macho with the gladiator - type music, way to work the equipment dudes.. good job
