Still no way to get 1080p from P2 cards?

Currently the only way I can get 1080 from my P2 is to go ahead and do 1080i59.94. Whether it be 24p or 24pA I can't get it either to work in a 1080p23.976 file. With tape stuff, Avid removes the pulldown as you capture based on your pulldown settings right? (I assume that that's how I've been working with 24p mini DV footage in a 24p timeline). Has 5.5 given us any way to do frame extractions so we can work on a 24p timeline in 1080 yet? I really hate dealing with all this field crap.

No, Avid does not yet deal with pulldown removal from file based formats, only during capture from signal based sources.

If you wanted to use the Raylight system you could get 1080/24pA with pulldown removal. Don't know if Avid has a timeline that would support it though.

Does the new version of Avid (2.7 Media Composer Soft or Express Pro) support 1080 24PA pulldown removal yet?

If I capture LIVE in a 1080 23.976 project will avid remove the pulldown?

Serious Magic DVRack 2.0 HD has a QTAVID file type that does the pulldown for 24pA. It can be done during capture into DVRack or via the batch conversion tool. The drawback is that the file cannot be mounted like the MXF can, rather it must be imported into a DNxHD MXF file.

Of you are doing Avid on a Windows workstation it is as easy as getting a Ricoh chipset PCMCIA adapter, doing the batch conversion to hard disk, then importing into avid.
