More 1080p PAL M2 grabs

Hey. Sorry about the aspect ratio. Photoshop says they are 1440 x 1080 but this is how they display and output.

Hi eliot.

Where are you outputting from. When I export uncompressed tifs from Avid I get them the correct aspect ratio at 1080p.

Yeah, the M2 is great but I'm attracted to the light form factor of the Brevis and will get one as soon as I have the money. Thanks for your comments.

Hi Eliot. Why would you buy the Brevis when you already own the M2?

Having tested three different adapters (P&S - M2 - and a home made), when it gets down to viewing the captured images, as long as they were set up right in the first place, they all look very similar.

By the way, did you get slugged with import tax when your M2 arrived?

Thanks.

I can't figure out why you'd get that resolution unless you are using the wrong codec or something. Are you perhaps trying to use an HDV codec? HDV samples 1080p at 1440x1080 and sometimes exports as such. DVCProHD (which the HVX uses) samples 1080p at 1280x1080 but has always seems to export back at the proper ratio.

Hi guys. Thanks for your comments. It was edited in the correct sequence in FCP. It's just photoshop is going something funny with them. I would prefer the Brevis as the Red Rock is slightly too heavy on my Glidecam 4000 with smooth shooter. My scence settings were the default F5 with the detail at +3.

Weird, if I bring grabs into Photoshop that have been exported from Avid (uncompressed tif) I get the correct aspect ratio.

Never mind, a PAL HVX200 samples at 1440x1080 since it's only a 50hz signal and thus can squeeze a few more pixels in. Just go ahead and stretch them back out to 1920x1080 for the proper aspect ration.

Anyway, great stuff. How much detail coring were you using?
