The Door Between - a story about life and death

Wow John, Sounds like you've had your hands full since I last checked out your thread.

I hope you get all these demons tackled!!!

I put together my end credits, just a simple roll down thing, after all i have a nice intro....i took out that LOUSY (did i mention it was lousy) vfx....and decided to export the movie in 2 parts, each uncompressed avi, so that i can work with them in AE7...

so I export the first part (5mins) took a while....and I started exporting the second one....which is taking muchos longer....so I have some time to spare...and decide to play the first part....and its stuttery....whY?? why god why????? i dare not stop the export process of the 2nd part...its at 50% now...so i dont know if the 2nd part is stuttery as well...but yesterday i did the same thing and they didnt stutter....

so my options right now.......

no strength left to think about options....

It is probably stuttery becaause your video card is trying to play uncompressed AVI. Render it in the timeline first and then watch it or, export it as compressed to test it. Just some possibilities. i know that when I try to watch uncompressed avis with Windows Media Player, my computer is stuttery and laughs at me. Try rendering the timeline first before export as well to see what it looks like in PP. :-)

Thanx Ted for checking up on me! I hope there is a happy ending after all these problems....

I finished with Premiere....phew....I am exporting now an uncompressed avi that I will try and use in A.E. to adjust some minor problems (minor...lol...) with CC and grain...all that's left to do with Prem. is add the subtitles on Saturday morning and export in 16:9....

by the way, does anyone know of any good tips on subtitles? fonts, size etc....

when I was your age I stayed up til 4-5am and woke up at 10..11...12.....life of a uni student....since I started working (past couple o years) I have to get up at around 7.30-8 (working 9 to whenever)......right now however where I work...I usually stay up til 1am at the office....

ps. gonna be working all sunday, and pulling a 24hour on monday as well......i love consulting people...........

OK! Uncompressed export seems to be fine. I put it in AE and applied the remove grain...then placed it in render bar...and...10hours....LOL...and i only got 6

so I canceled and left that for saturday as well)

right now I m doing the 16:9 export as Matt said and it seems to be great! squeezed of course but a 16:9 ....so thanx Matt!

i m off to bed

Last night we recorded our voice over for the movie. I can tell you guys, its NOT an easy thing to act in front of a mic. I thought I could do well since its my script and i know the story and the characters and what I want them to say and how to say it...but doing it was HARD and exhausting. It also brought A LOT OF LAUGHS i can tell you....If only we spoke in english so I could post some audio bts from last night....

Today I will continue working with my brother to do the foley design and integrate our voice over in the movie. I hope that by tomorrow everything is done and that I will have an audio file to bring back home and do the final rendering and exports. THat last minute extension that Jarred gave will surely come in handy.

Spent the night at my brother's place to work on the sound. We cut down voice overs and synchronised with the movie....had to do some editing at the video as well coz it became clear that some scenes where not needed or longer than they should be....that goes if you shoot in a hurry and without a clear plan...lessons to learn....

Right now I left him quite stressed and worried coz in all honesty, the things he needs to do with this project need more than 3-4 days and being a perfectionist he hates doing stuff in a hurry...he also promised to crucify me for saying all these nice things about his work in here coz now he feels that he must prove himself...so all apologies Jim but as I told him, if he can't make it right, we can finish this whenever, as long as it's done properly and the way everyone involved feels it should be done...

So I can't promise you that the Door Between will be up in 2 days, but I can say that if we don't make it, I will post a link for those who want to see it next week.

I'll concentrate on wrapping up my other film right now to have it up in the server by tomorrow noon. So don't know if I'll be posting in this thread for the next few days.

It's been extremely fun so far and I've enjoyed sharing with all of you in here. From the bottom of my heart a big thanx to you all.

ps. I'll definitely keep you updated if something happens until release.

John

Get it done man... all this hype, we NEED to see this film! Good luck!

Thanx a lot Brandon! That was a terrific boost in morale! I will try to help my brother as much as I can, but it really is up to him. I wish I could consider working on it on Sunday but I ll be at the office all day....and even If I brought my stuff at work (which I could) its not something I can do right now, its sound and score....so I hope my brother can produce some miracles...

It is going to be so great to finally see what you have come up with. I am sure your dedication will pay off. I am happy to see that it has come together.

Still waiting...I am using the time waiting for my brother by doing some stuff with AE....removing grain obviously...oh S@#$ ! I forgot to do the subs!....I'm off

No reports from me lately cause John and Jim do all the work in post production, as John have mentioned in his posts. I will have to add that recording the voice overs is quite a pain in the a$$. Of course we have lots and lots of fun trying to get the "perfect" acting but at the end of the day the results may end up flat as the Sahara desert... :( I have told John that, since we have no experience in acting, it is a matter of talent, something that seems to be lacking as well. So now, he had the oportunity to find out on his own... have faith in Jim that he will produce the best result possible with all the things we recorded. But, the real truth is, for a second time in a row we had very didn't have the luxury of time in recording the voices so that's a thing we must discuss and "fix" on our next project... As you have understood, John works overtime on this project (and, of course, on his very own 'Love is the most deceptive feeling') and I am obliged to say a big THANKS to his coz without this commitment, nothing could have been possible...
