Hi Everyone,

Have been the proud owner of this fine camera for 2 weeks now and just received my M2 (took 1 week to ship from red rock) and have been using a set of Canon FD mount primes my uncle sent me.

All of the grabs were shot using a Canon 50mm lense.

Nice looking still shots dude. This may be a silly question, but I'm getting an HVX next week.. How do I now which still camera lensens would fit the HVX? I have a Canon SLR 20D with some lensens...

wawii,

No lenses fit the HVX as it is a fixed lens camera. What the guys have bought is a 35mm lens adaptor which is put onto the front of the camera to take lenses such as nikons, canons etc... and then the cameras own built in lens is merely used to record the image that the 35 mm lens projects inside the adaptor onto a ground glass.

They've used the M2 from redrock micro. Other systems are around such as the brevis 35 and SG PRO which I've opted for.

Hope that helps ! :)

Stunning images, and not a distortion in sight! Thats been a slight issue with these adaptors (distortion/hotspots/Vignetting) that I've seen before.

eliotbaring,

Wow, those are some really nice looking grabs...even stretched.

Anhar,

This may be off topic, but are you quoting yourself in your signature line? That's the first time I've seen something like that.

yes.......this is off topic

LOL i'm TOTALLY just kidding around

I think it's an Anhar original. I appreciate that.
NIce grabs. I'm having some issues with the M2 as it's softening the image. My images are perfect when downconverted but what happens if we stick with an hd output. Sometimes I would like there would no HD evolution

Hey guys. Thanks for your posts and comments. They are 4:3 due to photoshop outputting them that way. I would have to say that whilst they look amazing they are not quite as sharp as the HVX with no 35mm lenses.

I've been lurking in the DVinfo Forums, and I heard something about people using Acromat's so that the picture is crisp from "corner to corner" I was just going to ask, did you use any ahromat or was that just straight

HVX >> M2 >> 35mm Lens (any spacers?)

Also about Photoshop outputing 4:3, I think it outputs whatever canvas size you tell it too, have a look at the save option(s).

Yeah, i think it causes a few strange lens reflections though. I often get an interal reflection when the light hits it at a certain angle.

thats most likely form the 35mm lens. i doubt there is enough light ot cause an internal reflection.

What is your workflow for this since you are the second guy I've seen with the wrong aspect ratio "because of photoshop?" I just export them from my NLE (Avid in my case) as 1920x1080 TIFF files then bring them into photoshop for any touch ups. They always import and export at the proper ratio.

you can shoot 1080P then down convert to 720. and it should look Crispy as all hell.

That hasn't been my experience. From what I've seen, 1080p doesn't offer all that much more resolution than 720p. Comparing 720p uprezed to 1080p yields a bit more resolution (maybe 15%) but not much. 1080p downrezed to 720p on the other hand doesn't look all that different from what I've shot. It certainly isn't enough to offset the softening affect of the M2.
