Noa/Rice Digital Presents: "Into the Darkness"

You have a backyard!!! I own a flat so backyard, front yard, inyard is out of the question. But we have a very cool basement that I will use for my next try. Actually the next project (set for January 2007) is called the Appartment and takes place at my building. Lots of stairs, lots of basement, lots of elevator....

Really? It's a standard thing for our buildings here to have basements. All of the appartment buildings have big basements, elevators, balconies, stairs....

Well... I just spoke with Herman, and he's officially onboard for sound design, and score!

Last piece of the puzzle is someone for the final VFX... And, if I could get some COOL title animation, I would love that too...

Yeah, no basements here, I think because of Earthquakes.

Great news! I'd love to have title animation myself but I'm no good with AE...2 years ago I used to work as a product manager for the greek IMC for Apple so I got my hands on Final Cut, Livetype, Motion...I was really good with those...but leaving the company meant that I left this toys behind as well and I dont own a Mac so....

So good luck with your VFX!!!!

Well we have a lot of Earthquakes here as well, Greece is actually an earthquake-generating f****! But we have really strong policies in terms of building buildings (that sounded nice - say it 10 times really fast).

Brandon, dude! That was awesome! I just watched "A Price Too High." Great work!

I can see why your sis was won the award. Curious why she was nominated for a "supporting role" though. Wouldn't you consider her to be the lead?

And I hope that the agent was nominated. I loved his performance.

But, about your filmmaking talents. Wonderful! I love what you did. It looks so professional. (I know that is a stupid thing to say but it's true.)

How did you do the handheld stuff? It was so subtle.

And your editing was very nicely done. I especially liked your edit from her running into the door of the warehouse to the SUV pulling up. I had to stop the film and watch that frame by frame. Very slick!

And I can't say enough about the score. Kerr is great.

Thank you for sharing that with me!

Good luck in the festivals. (I don't know how you cut that for dvx's fest!)

Hey man, thanks a bunch! It was a fun one to do.

I think she was nominated in supporting category as this was a short film, and the festival had shorts and features...

Sadly, Jorge did not get nominated, and I don't know why, he was spot on and just a pro all around...

Thanks again man!

The handheld stuff was all without a shoulder brace (that I used on Smuggler's Ransom) too! Which is still amazing to me, as I don't know how I could ever do handheld again with it (the shoulderbrace)... I shoot so much stuff handheld and have worked extremely hard to be steady with it... I guess it just takes a lot of practice.

Thanks for the comment on editing... That's where I started in this line of work, editing... It's still my favorite part of the process!

Yeah, Matt Derr (also scoring Smuggler's Ransom) is fantastic... Would you believe A Price Too High was only his second full score? Pretty great stuff!

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment dude! Problem is, you'll be expecting "Into the Darkness" to be just as epic and expansive... But, I only have one actor! lol...

No, I won't hold you to that. I won't be surprised if you do it, but I won't hold you to it. :)

And thank for correcting Matt Derr's name. He deserves to be known!

Thanks again for the viewing and best to you and the cast and crew!

Thanks dude... :) I'll do my best to put something out that's interesting and decent, how's that? :)

No prob. And indeed he does, he's really a great talent.

Thanks man... we pretty much have the same core group for Smuggler's Ransom... and again, it was a wonderful experience, and will continue to be I am sure. Thanks again.

UPDATE: Steve Arm (who did effects for Norm Sander's "Sparrow") has signed on to do the title animation... he may also do the final effect as well... not sure yet.

It's nice when a location is readily available to you. People's homes make for
great locations, you can feed everyone right there! Looking forward to it.

Yes indeed! And it's also really nice when it's just you and your lil' bro... doesn't take a lot to feed us... :)

Hope you enjoy, and thanks for checkin' the thread! :)

If he's anything like you then a helping of chili fries or a trip to Taco Bell should do the trick

Oh YEAH! That always works! :)

I'm about to go have Mediterranian food for lunch, mm.... but enough about that....
back to "Into the Darkness"

I got a test render of the title back from Steve Arm... it's looking good, he'll be tweaking it a bit, and probably sending back late tonight...

Cool dude! Did you find that VFX guy yet. i wish you the best on that!

Progress, progress... sound good B-Man. I've had a great day today myself. My footage is piecing together nicely! I think that perhaps I can stop dropping all of my self-depreciating wise-cracks about my filmmaking skills! :violin: (I've always wanted to use that smiley!)

Congrats on picking up your vfx guy! That's really cool. Is this someone you know or did they just respond to your notice? (gotta love this place!) :love4: :love4: :love4:
