They are Them

well folks, here i am displaying my very first project i've ever DP'd and Directed on any kind of professional level at all, "professional" meaning shooting for an established company that is paying a couple bucks and working with a little crew of people, which was really fantastic.

to give a little back story on this and all else, this is the first time that i have ever picked up not only the HVX200 but a 24p camera EVER, i've never used one, the closest i've come to one is touching a dvx100a was at the rental house LOL and playing with knobs, also regarding this shoot, i picked up the HVX200 for the first time after my company purchased a package about, all told, 3 hours before the shoot to get my head wrapped around it, to put AAAALLLLLL the research, theory and info that i've learned about this camera while living on dvxuser.com for the last year and a bit, so THANK YOU ALL for all the info that you have all shared.

i was away for a couple weeks before this shoot on my 1yr wedding anniversary and was asked the day i left to direct/DP it, so i basically walked off the plane, dropped off my stuff at home, went to pick up the camera package, went to sleep, woke up at 6a.m, went to shoot for a day

i had nothing to do with the edit of this, nor the CC'ing, nor the script, nor really anything short of showing up on the day, getting a fairly vague script and thinking out each 15sec. piece in my head, lighting it with a fantastic lighting/grib fella' (that i met for the first time on that day) setting up the shots, directing the talent and making it real! which was sooo much fun and now that my company owns this camera package....i hope there is much more fun to be had.

anyways, sorry this is sooooo long, but i just wanted to give a little story here ;) and it's my first time posting something, so i'm nervous! LOL

i'm not at all happy with the kind'a "washed out" colour of the first 15sec. piece, i dont know what they were thinking on the CC'ing or whatever the editor did, but i'm very happy with the second 15 second piece

hope you enjoy my little pieces, please be gentle LOL

this was shot at 16x9 but they cropped it down for TV (really lame), 720p, 30fps (for TV) and yeah....please give me feeback

Yeah well when you don't have control over the final piece what can you do right? It looks like you pulled it off though, good job.

well that's the thing, it's a very helpless position to be in when you hand off your footage and blam it's NOT what you were hoping it would be or the time was'nt put in to the product like i would have put in to it or whatever the case is, i'm really unhappy with the weird look of the colours and that washed out look.....but what to do

Yeah, the second clip looks much better. Nice job! Is she really worried the teddy will get damaged in the move?

LOL yes, i'm actually glad you brought that up, that was a little "issue" that i had when shooting on the day and had to give it up when the fella that wrote the pieces wanted a teddy bear and i wanted this classic framed image of an old women (more delicate) BUT to no avail.....i gotta tell you, very strange to be the "hired help" LOL
but thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it!

"two small men with big hearts" wow that really is the companie's name .... tooooo funny
