Suicide Short film DVX +mini35

Really enjoyed the feature trailer. It looked beautiful!

What was the budget, if you don't mind me asking?

How many DVX's were used?

Hey Cannon,
Thanks for the compliment!

The film was made for under 500k.

There were 9 cameras total. 7 of which were DVXs. and one had the mini35.

Did you watch the short??

Wow. That was really funny. I loved the way the guy was talking after shooting himself in the mouth. The final kiss seemed a little past my limit, but that appears to be exactly what you were going for.

Good job.

Pretty good looking short there. I thought the interior shots from the party were a bit too orange for my liking. Did you shoot them white balanced that way or emphasize the tungsten lighting in color correction?

The shot right after 9:06AM, looking out the store window with the sign on the door was really nice.

Sound throughout the short was well done, something I don't often see/hear from low budget films. Editing was also nice.

that was great... if you dont mind me asking, where did you get those gunshot sound effects? They were really good and I need some good gunshot sfx for my upcoming film.

500k.....and you shot dvx? I cant figure out what you needed 9 cameras for...the ending almost felt like a documentary though that was cool...very "real" feeling....mixed with the story...kinda interesteting....but man for 500k....the short was alright it was funny but it needed something else. it just ends with them loving eachother....compeltly ignoring the fact that this random guy with no back story is suddenly a zombie/immortal thing....i gets its comedy but still. enn. better then most of the stuff I see on here so good job....im just a critical person im sorry to come off like a jerk.

The 500K is for the feature I think. I'm pretty sure the short film didn't cost that much. At least I hope it didnt :)

Hey Guys,

The short cost no where NEAR 500K. ;)

That was the tag for the feature, mind you UNDER 500K.

The 9 DVXs were needed because the film takes place during the Convention. You need coverage inside the convention, outside the convention. Multiple angles etc. That doesn't mean there were 9 cameras rolling at all times. But there was 9 cameras around.

Thanks for the compliments on both projects.
I'm actually not the director ... be he is a good friend of mine, so I will pass them along!

I encourage you guys to check out the film in NYC. It opens Oct 20th.

You can get some more info at www.conventioneersmovie.com

;)

I should get the director on here to answer some of your more specific questions.

Im pretty sure he was referring to the "film" costing 500k and using 9 dvx's. The short Im sure didnt cost that much. The trailer for the "film" is the one he was referring to that cost the big loot.

great short! How much did that cost to make?

Really well shot. The sound varied alot, but aside from that, I thought it was fantastic!

I thought the filmmaking, acting, editing, were all good. However, it felt like a 1 minute joke stretched out to 12 minutes, and I started fast-forwarding to see if anything different happened. But nothing did. It didn't escalate, or develop really, just did the same thing over and over. Should have been 1 minute. 2, tops, in my opinion.

And why exactly does a bullet to the head - or 50 - not kill him?

That's part of the beauty of it. For some reason every time he did it, I just laughed harder. Sometimes I love a single joke spread out over a long stretch. There's an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast which is like that and I couldn't get enough of it.

As for why it doesn't kill him... who cares? It's better to not explain something than explain it badly and ruin the story.

That short was extraordinary! The part in the gun shop had me rolling on the floor!

Kudos! 4/4 stars! :)

Yeah, comedy's subjective, I think, more than other forms. For instance, I would have laughed more if his efforts would have escalated, gun, car, cliff, A-bomb, etc.

And you're right, why it didn't kill him is too nit-picky.
