Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

ya willoughbys acted like a grey market scammer...

Short story, said it was in stock I ordered it, said it was out of stock but I could buy a "package" for more money...

I was going to buy from Fullcompass(shawn is GREAT to deal with) but they were sold out.
EVS never returned my calls or emails, and I would have had sales tax($250).
B&H cut their price for me.

Should I buy a DVX-100B from shopsunshine.com?

Should I buy a DVX-100B from shopsunshine.com?

I'm new here..

I am looking to buy a 100B this week and was looking on Shopsunshine.com. Does anyone know if this would be a decent place to buy from. I checked their reseller rating and it looks ok. Any comments?

Shopsunshine.com - 100B:

Reseller rating for Shopsunshine.com:

They just seemed to have a good price on it and they will ship to Canada!

Shopsunshine looks like a grey market seller to me. Yes the ratings were good, so if they did sell you a grey market camera, maybe they would refund your money no problem (maybe). It seems better than a lot of stores, probably won't try bait and switch, but I didn't see any reference to warranty or rebate.

DVX100B - Canada rebate package??

DVX100B - Canada rebate package??

I've read on a forum that panasonic shipped a US Rebate and Canada Rebate in the box of the DVX 100A.

Does anyone know if the 100B $350 rebate, the software, and the DVX book and DVD - If that rebate package also applies to Canada. The rebate form that I found online (.pdf) says it is oly valid in the 50 US states. ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/brochures/B_AG-DVX100BRebateClaimForm06.01.06.pdf (Im assuming theres nothin for us up here in Canada!)

I am a student and live in Canada, but I am trying to save some money by getting this camera from the US. I have found a place in Canada that sells this: http://www.vistek.ca/details/results.aspx?Manuf=Panasonic&Level1=CAMCORDERS&Level2=MINIDVPRO&CategoryID=ProVideoCamcorders&cat=MiniDV+Prosumer
but have not confirmed if they are an authorized dealer.

My other option would be to get it from EVS.

the Rebate is only a US Rebate and is not applicable to cameras shipped out of the US. It is only good on cameras that are imported to the US by Panasonic Broadcast.

Hope that helps,

Jan

check panasonics website for a list of authorized dealers of Panasonic products. Don't know exactly where on the site it is, but its there.

It should be reitterated that it's a good idea to check www.resellerratings.com to see where a dealer stands with consumers. You will likely find dealers in poor standing will have far more "reviews" than dealers in good standing.

If there is question about a particular dealer, check there first.

Zotz is a DVInfo.net sponsor company and Chris Hurd is a strong believer in his sponsors. I've never ordered from them but if Chris Hurd is giving them the thumbs-up that's a pretty good recommendation.

What software or additional items should currently be included with the HVX when buying from authorized dealers in the US?

Thanks for the info.

In re-reading my question, though, I see that I wasn't very clear. I was referring to the "extras," like the Magic Bullet software, that have been included at various points as evidence that the HVX was being sold by a legit dealer. Just wondering if anything has changed in the last couple of months.

I just went over to the site, and I really wouldn't go there. It is such a scam, you can't get the camera out of the factory for that price! The going rate for a DVX is somewhere in the $3100-3300 range.

Best,

jan
