MOVIE STUNTS said:Woah, is that guy related to Marge Simpson? Jk, Very well lit and shot.
Geoff_R said:I really like the shot with the guy (cigarette in hand) who is wearing the army camo hat. The scene with the girl and guy down at the boating dock looks beautiful as well. Hell, it all looks great! All around great cinematography. I'd be bugging you to shoot my stuff if I had a project with a budget.

Do you own the Zeiss lenses or did you rent. If you own, where do you get them and how much. Oh yeah, what size lenses were you using?
Your stuff looks really good. Keep up the good work.
Justyn said:Justin.. with an I.. from Justyn with a Y. Looks simply stunning, yet again brother! Man, those super-speeds look awesome. Definitely the best I've seen the M2 footage look, fo sho'.... The real proof of this is evident in your footage. I simply love the soft and pleasant look of the kid up against the gray wall ... That looks so damn good. I also really like the shot under the bridge
<<MY FAVE, thank god for HMI's>>
... and possibly, my favorite is that shot of them all walking into the store. I'd have been convinced you shot that on film if I didn't know better. Also love the blown out.. dreamy look on the sax guy... My wife was in the room when I played it.. and loved the footage a lot, as well as asked if that's cuba Goodins bro. Is it?
<<No, sorry! hahaha, but he is a GREAT ACTOR!!>>
Man, this might push me over the limit to get the M2.. a lot of the other footage with the nikon lens just doesn't look right to me. When people say it's filmic.. it doesn't look like any film footage that I shot.... where there's only a really narrow and distracting softness to the image... but yours looks awesome. I think that there's something to be said for using real film lenses.
<<It has a lot to do with lighting, the you shoot, and the Lens you use. One major thing with these lenses is the ability to close down the lens a bit to open your depth of field and not have any issues with darkening of the edges. Also, I shot at a 1/24th shutter, to give myself an ounce more light. Everyone that shoots with any adapter tries to shoot wide open EVERY SHOT.. Don't get me wrong, I was wide open for much of the shoot.. But when I could, I would OVER LIGHT, then stop down so I could keep more in focus.. It becomes a bit distracting to the audience if most of your scene is out of focus. I would have rather shot at the 180 shutter, but I just took the chance, and after viewing the footage after the first day, it was worth it..
The M2 is still a challenge to work with.. I still had some softness around the edges at certain espousers, So I cheated a large amount of shots towards the center of frame.. something I didn't enjoy... But it was safer that way..>>
Couple of other questions... Did you shoot this in south Florida?
<<ALL shot in south Florida (Miami, Hollywood, and Ft. Lauderdale)>>
Where did you rent the primes from?
<<CINEVIDEOTECH in Miami (305) 754-2611.. They are the first rental house formed in South Florida. I have known them since I've been here, and unlike their competators, they know their craft, and their gear, and will bend over backwards to give you a good deal and the BEST serivce and 24/hour support.. They ship to anywhere! They work with your budget, and are very INDI-Friendly!! Tell them Justin Sent you, and they'll charge ya more!.. Just kidding, let them know you got their number from me..>>
What did they cost?
<<I had a grip/electric/camera package all in one cost, so it's really hard to tell..>>
Insurance and all that too?
<<For a 12 Day shoot, we paid (I think) around $2800 for insurance (Vehicle, Workmans Comp, personal Lia., etc... from OTTO at the Film Emporium>>
And lastly, do you think the M2 with the rods and everything is study and dependable enough to have such heavy and expensive glass on the front of this?
<<All depends on how you mount everything.. I had a $50,000 Masterprime on my rig, and with the follow focus and all the bells and whistles, it seemed GREAT.. I will post some pictures soon.. There is now a way to hard-mount the M2 to the HVX with an assortment of adapter rings.. It was the only way I would work.. The little lens hood they give you doesn't do the trick, because the weight of any lens that you put on there pulls the hood down a smidge, changing your focus.. bad design.. but the adapter rings really make the unit VERY solid...>>
I have rented some from Panavision here when I had the insurance. They only cost me 25 a day.. and that's a friggin deal and a half.... so I might have to go that route again....
Thanks for showing and another example of why Just(y/i)n's rule and others drool... Lol. This looks simply fabulous.

35mm adapter + HD = not easy focus
very impressive
