Footage - http://homepage.mac.com/nickhagen/iMovieTheater9.html

This was temp footage I put together awhile back but people have been asking so here's something. Hopefully I will have a trailer up within a couple weeks. Again, this was cut together in a day and the finished film will look much better. This will only be up for 24 hours. Thanks - Nick

Look great. What kind of lighting/grip package were you working with? Let us know when there is a website.

yeah I should've put up higher rez pics. I'm working on getting footage up. The rough cut of the film is done and I'm going to put together a trailer. I'll post it here first to get some feed back because I don't have any problems putting together a film but I'm awful at putting together a trailer.... I don't know why.

A little background - It's a feature called Dark Horizon. We filmed for 20 days in august with a small light/grip package. Most of our stuff was outdoors. The rain pics are blown out because that's the frame the lighting strikes were going off. We used photo strobes for that effect by the way. We did some crazy stuff, that waterfall in the first pic we jumped off of. I put the camera on a boom pole and stood on the edge and hung the camera out over the falls....yeah that made me a little nervous, so nervous in fact I forgot to shoot it at 60fps.

www.darkhorizonthemovie.com will be up at some point. We're not too worried about trying to do independent promotion, mostly because it takes forever and we're not that good at it. thanks for the comments. Here's a couple more pics.

One behind the scenes - the camera was at the end of that pole

Nick,

WOW, I want to see some moving footage. Show us a teaser. Everyone is drooling like homer simpson over a doughnut.

OK. since I like all of you. I'll put this footage up. There's a number of problems with it so no need to point them out.....I'm aware. This isn't directly lifted from my cut because I put this together before I started editing the film to show some people who were thinking about investing. The finished film will look better and be more polished. Yes there was some coloring done to it as well. Hope you find it intriguing, it'll be up for 24 hours.

Very very nice stuff - overall a great look - great shakey cam and great steady cam (if that is what it was) - nice overall composition.

Couple of points of feedback - the lighting is too uniform and reads as a strobe. The acting in the last scene is very stiff (though that might not be your dept).

The vista stuff in the beginning is stunning although the zoom out feels too zoomy - a cut to wide might work better.

Overall - great stuff though - i love the movement of the cam

funny. All good points. The lightning was a strobe, but it doesn't have that effect so much in the final version. I always like to hear responses from people who know what they're doing with a camera because it's always so different from the average joe movie watcher. Olive Stone said "perfect is the enemy of good" I always liked that quote and beleive me I never would've gotten this film done if everything had to be visually perfect. I think the key is story telling and doing it well enough to get people wrapped up in the characters so they don't think about those things..... don't get me wrong I wish I was perfect :) Nick

send me a PM, I'll send a link. My bandwidth was used up pretty quick and hardly got any comments..... not that it mattered, I just ran out of space.
