48 Hour Film Project

I participated in the 48 Hour Film Project this year in Las Vegas under AllAround Film. I was just wondering if anybody else participated and what was your experience like?

It's really hard if you're working with underage people, no script, no sound, and no experienced camera men or actors.

But I'm sure most people don't really have to worry about that stuff.

Kinda fun, gets annoying, but it gave me an excuse to stay up til like 4 in the morning editing, which is something I enjoy.

We did Miami, but from Key West... first time the crew worked together. Five of
us were fulltime pros, the rest were friends or people just getting into production.
The most interesting aspects were the establishment of the 'pecking order' as
to who was really in charge and had decision making power. We easily lost
8 hours to local artist 'politics'. That was the big lesson... needs to be more
of a dictatorship next time 'round.

I had an absolute blast. Next season we're planning to do Miami and one other
city, also remotely.

We got Martial Arts Film.. Al Cordova - Circus Performer, a clipboard and the line:
'Step aside, We've got to get through.' For what its worth, we made 'Clown Dojo'
and couldn't stop laughing the whole time we did it.

i did the 48 hrs thing a few times in the southern california area, its fun overall, it is justy good to have actors on standby about a month in advance and have a house secured for shooting (most common area). but other than that its all about scheduling and working with your crew. sometimes there are problems with assigning specific jobs instead of having everyone do everything (not everyone can be director or script editor(powerful lesson there)), but overall it is a fun time.

mine has been a vast array of experiences, from confusing to tense, to extreemly fun; and i always learned something. and in the end the movie only makes sense to us, but thats the fun of it.

how do they know it was shot within the 48 hours?

I'm not sure about the 48 hour film project, but usually in things like this they give you something that everyone has to include in their movies. Plus it's no fun if you don't.

I've been sorta put off by the fat entrance fee of the 48 hour film project. It was like 125 to register here in SF and since I spend a whole lot less on making a few films, I decided against it, especially because I'm usually just using friends, no one that really knows what they're doing. But it's fun and that's what counts.

I've been doing a lot of cinemasports events recently, it's the same idea, but you get 9 hours and 3 things you have to put in your movie. They're usually free and a whole heck of a lot of fun. I really think the feel is just about the same though. As said before really tense at times, but at others a whole heck of a lot of fun. We recently did one in San Francisco where we made a film called Banana Split(click!). We actually ended up doubling the time our film was supposed to be, yet we were the only people who got ours in on time. Go figure.
