i need a camer for around $2,000

i am looking to buy a new camera and spend around $2,000. i am thinkin a canon gl2 but want to see your opinions. also where should i order it from? i see a lot of dvx100a's for around 2,000 here but unless your near the raleigh area where we can meet up and have a warrenty i dont think my parents will let me buy a camera from someone. also are there any stores that would sell a used gl2, dvx or whatever else you recommend?
 
What do you want to do with the camera? I would recommend the GL2 as a last resort, and i wouldnt pay more than 1200 for one of them. I sold my last GL2 about a year ago for 1100, and i was more than happy, because i bought that thing like 3 years ago for 1500, so they arent that expensive, but just because they arent that versatile for making movies, but for show production, which is what i used it for, it was cool since it was cheap, made a decent pic and i didnt care about beating the hell out of it
 
If your parents won't let you... Sorry. But the way i do almost all of my deals. Is ask for all contact information. Home phone, cell phone, address, DRIVERS license number and everything. If its a high priced sale. Than i'll ask to call first and talk about it and go over all the contact information. If yer parents are still sketched out.. sorry man.

well i can try to convince them itll save a lot of money, but where would i go about finding a used camera? ebay? this site? do they not sell used cameras at any of these stores?
 
You might want to keep an eye on the used departments of the major Camera stores. B&H, Samy's, Calumet, and even EVS all have used equipment for sale and I'm sure you can get a Mack USED warranty with them.
