Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

thanks guys- give me a couple weeks on the site though- I am in the middle of my day job/ teaching a night course, and taking a 3ds Max class.

LOL. Ed, i'm digging the new goonies avatar. What was the other one from?

I can't wait to see the site.

Mike is correct. In the movie (Blue Velvet) his name is Ben and he likes to sing Roy Orbison tunes into a work light. :) Played by Dean Stockwell (of Quantum Leap fame).

I love that character- but i also love Chunk.."bullet holes the size of matzaballs!" so I am giving this avatar a run around the block. :)

Anyone who hasnt seen Blue Velvet- you simply must.

ok.. so i did some test shots of my new and improved adapter.. (looks like the old one.. kinda like ed's (within the confines of a small tube) but i have added a little vibrating motor and switch (motor.. and battery pack are both inside the unit.. therefore the only thing extra on the exterior is a little toggle switch. it works perfectly.. no dust. no scratches.. nothing.. the before shot is with the motor off (you can see dust.. scratches.. it looks realllll crummy (on purpose) and then with the same settings.. i switched on the motor and viola.. its perfect.. only problem.. i dont know how to host a video to put it up on here to show.. can anyone do this? ill email the clip to you

I'm looking into building this 35mm adapter and I really can't wait to get all the parts from ebay. Is there a one stop shop that I can get all these: FD mount, Nikon F3 screen, 49-52 step up rings, 72mm ring? I live in Jersey City just a train ride from Manhattan.

Hi guys congrats on an amazing forum you're all very inspirational! Excuse me if you've aleady answered this elsewhere (i haven't seen anything) but has anyone used a Nikon B-type BrightView Clear Matte Screen III as a GG?

Would love to hear feedback.

Also I think it's a shame that these "works of art" are still stuck in PVC tubing. I understand the initial reason for using it (genius by the way) but i think it's time they find new homes. If I can get an adapter up and running I'll have to get a friend to machine a custom barrel/spacer for me/us. The icing on the cake!

Keep up the good work guys and thanks for everything.

I think that I bought the wrong 72mm adapter ring... take a look.

Where can I get the correct one if this is wrong? Ug. I can't seem to find an A series adapter in 72mm.
Thanks

EDIT: oops, I figured it out. I didn't have the empty UV filter ring on it. Now that's more like it.

So now the set screws go through the wide part of the UV ring correct. Looks like the PVC will need a little sanding to fit inside the rings.

I just bought all the pvc pipes today and I was under the impression that they only come in white color. Do you have to paint them first or they do come already black? The reason is that I noticed the upc sticker you have on.

I tried to get one of those but they were eternally on backorder. Never could get one shipped. I've heard of other Nikon screens that work well, but have only tried the D screen personally.

If you can get custom machined metal spacers, than that would be a great improvement. However that is not an option for most DIYers, and that is why PVC makes a good housing. It’s cheap, strong, and easy to find (relatively speaking). Not a shame though- just the best option at the time considering cost and availability.

Ed where did you get all of your FD mounts?
Junked canon cameras on ebay. Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-EOS-AE-1-...QQihZ015QQcategoryZ107919QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You just pull the FD mount from the camera. You even get the 50mm f1.4 you will need with it- what a deal :)

ep19- you can sand down the back of that PVC part and get it to fit.

I hear you re. PVC edweirdo. I understand it would also have been easy to make fine adjustments at the developing stage. Nice job of coating it by the way...

you know what's next!!!

waiting for my motor in the mail!!!

i think some of you know that my static adaptor uses a beattie screen, and from this pic: thats a nikon type D.
well i manage to get some dust on my beattie and in the process of cleaning it, it broke :(
but i have all these nikon lying around so then did some cut and paste and now have my vibrating base.

I have one more beattie that is my static adaptor but for this vibrating base, i am just going to use nikons becasue they are nicked'. (have about 4 fo them)

hopefully the nick's will be gone when it is vibrating
sample footage to follow when completed

Phally, looks great. You might find that having only two supports to hold the GG will allow the GG to move along the z-axis. This will cause a blur of fuzz in the corners of you images. Just keep an eye out for it.

Wow have I said that alot over the last month. :)

Thanks Snoart.

lucky i can still add some more syringes to the sides to support it, but I have the gg close to the base so it neatly stiff....

ohh well... well see when the motor comes in. I know a secert motor and going to test it out when it comes it.

hint: it is not circular and have a linear vibrating movement
