Indie Focus Reviews?

Like an ever-increasing number of you, I'm using a 35mm adapter with my DVX and a rail system. The next step is buying a follow focus. With the exception of a few ingenious DIY inventions, the only affordable (less than $500) follow focus solution I can find is the IndieFocus ($300). I'm a little concerned with the friction design, however.

My reason for using rails with the adapter is to take stress of the threads connecting the adapter to the DVX but I'm afraid that the Indie Focus might add horizontal stress on the threads the way gravity would if I weren't using a rail system.

I'm worried that there will either be too much tension on the lens or not enough tension on the adapter, causing slippage and inconsistent control. Has anyone used this follow focus with a 35mm adapter? Do you have any other follow focus suggestions?

The indiFOCUS also has a geared option. (It is an additional $90) You merely exchange the friction wheel for a geared module and use lens gears (three are included) on your 35mm SLR lenses. (The change-over between friction and geared module takes about 30 seconds using the included allen wrench). The friction wheel is best when using the stock lens of any DV/HD lenses.
As for lateral torque, the indiFOCUSgear has ample torque to turn the lens gears on even 'stiff' lenses. (I gather by your post that your adaptor attaches to a set of rails. This is good; makes the entire camera/adaptor/lens assembly very rigid, which actually makes the follow focus smoother. )

i sent you an email about getting my indirails geared!
