Grabs from new super epic action movie (DVX102b, PD170, XL2)

Actually for some of the firefights we got camera flashes to add to the effect. In post we're also gonna try to cover it up with additive dissolves - in addition to the muzzle flash. But woe unto he who hath to position the muzzle flash especially during the times when you have 20 swat on screen shooting. That'll be tough..

In my last post I was talking about putting the flashlights under the barrels to look really like the SWAT weapon you know, more professional. About the muzzle flashes of 20 SWAT officers, well, you don't have 20 in each shot, right? Anyway, it is really hard work but it will look great if you put some effort in it.

You mean like this?

Yeap, there was a smoke grenade - twice in the film. For the record, the artificial smoke stinks, and should not be used unless absolutely imperative to the plot

Very nice smoke stuff, Malcolm. Tell me how did you get that complex to shoot in? It looks amazing, and really big. And what is it anyway, some warehouse?

The producer got it - it was originally a plant that makes water purification machines i think. It had 2 different warehouses and a couple of indoor offices, and a balding manager wearing a playboy singlet. Well the manager of the complex. The manager of the warehouse itself was a friend's dad

Wow, you really had the room to make some wide angles in it. It looks really great, like in some professional feature. Keep us posted.

Wow, man. 10 years from now you'll probably own a huge film studio. Just take it slowly and take time to finish the project the best way you can. I'm sure you'll make it excellent. It's a nice thing you started so early.

Sorry it took so long my bro. Been super busy... here's a few CC ideas, with notes on what I did.

On this one I crushed the blacks a bit, upped the contrast, desaturated it a bit, and added some red and yellow... I like the yellowish look it has.

Didn't do a lot to this one, as I think it already looked pretty good. I upped the contrast and crushed the blacks a tad... and desaturated it a tad.

I did almost the same thing to this image as the first... crushed the blacks a bit, upped the contrast, desaturated it a bit, and added some red and yellow.

Hope this helps a little... color grading is all subjective, so I am not sure what exact look you're going for. The shots look good though, and that poster is really awesome! Good luck man!

Ooh ooh! My turn!

This first one isn't that great, but I think it brings out the midtones well and adds a nice cool blue tint to the image, giving it a "cooler" look...

This second one came out well. It sort of takes the "video" harsh edge off the picture and, again, adds a nice "cool" bluish tint which give it a better emotional feel:

This one just helps take the "video" edge off the image. It has a warmer reddish tone to it:

And finally, the shot everyone seems to love:

Again, I was trying to get rid of the "video" look and add some blue...

And for what it's worth, I think you should have cast the rookie as the guy with more experience. He has a more angular face, which is more of a masculine feature. The guy with more experience has more of a baby face. Just my opinion. :)
