Paramount and Cruise Part Ways

the reason TC has gone off the deep end in reality and the movies is because he wont separate the two. did you know that on the set of WOTW he had a fully staffed Scientology tent on set. check this out:

http://www.cesnur.org/2005/sc_cruise.htm

also, the reason he fired his Publicist Pat Kingsley and then brought in his sister (who had no publicity or PR experience) was because Pat Kingsley wasn't and wouldn't become a Scientologist. She is one of the most powerful publicists in Hollywood with clients galore and made sure all interviews of TC were of a positive light or else - she would not allow those interviewers or shows access to her other clients ever again. She strong armed everyone and kept everyone in check. but TC only wants to be surrounded by those of his beliefs - once he went away from her and her meticulous control of his public actions all hell broke loose. Hence his downfall.

If what Tom Cruise is going through is coined as a "downfall" I can't wait until I experience mine.

I hardly think Tom Cruise will have a hard time making pictures when he wants to.

no argument here. he'll do whatever the heck he wants to when he wants to with however much money he wants to. just saying he went from the golden boy of Hollywood to somewhat of a psycho freak as of late in the perception of the media and alot of the public, hence his downfall in that arena.

Tom Cruise doesn't exactly NEED Paramount. Clint Eastwood has been doing his own thing and making his own movies since the beginning...has he needed ANYbody?

He needs the public. Eventually - ultimately, it will be the audience who decides whether he works or not.

Clint has always struggled and pulled teeth to get his stuff made though. From what I read he had to do a lot of wrangling to get adequate funding for Million Dollar Baby.

The plot thickens in the Cruise saga.

Cruise had been a lucrative asset for the studio in the past with his films grossing more than $2.5 billion for Paramount"

"the studio estimated that Cruise's uncensored off-screen antics were thought to have cost the studio $150 million in lost box office receipts for Mission: Impossible III"

I'm sure they'd dump him for an "ESTIMATED" loss of 150 mill, when he's brought in TWO POINT SIX BILLION!!!!!

I bet the studio really did turn it into a personal thing after not being able to reach an agreement.

well when he started ordering comdey central to stop showing "coming out of the closet" episdoe of south park (which won an emmy nomination) it wasnt aired till after it was nominated and he said that he wouldn't promote MI:3 so there has been some buttons he pressed which he shouldnt have. granted he gets them money but so do the south park boys...

anyway he'll be ok. he tom crusie its not like he's crispin glover and gonna screw up after his first big hit. this man has had many hit which some i enjoy. he'll b e fine.

that and the hole wanting to be paid more for BTTF 2 than MJF and then suing them afterwards for a guy impersonating his likeness on screen.

Crispin Glover is a strange ranger...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crispin_Glover

"Glover made his directorial debut with 2005's What Is It?...

The film boasts an eclectic and unusual cast. Porn stars Kiva, Muffy and Karin Odell appear naked with animal heads. Most of the principal actors are young and have Down syndrome. Fairuza Balk lends her voice to a real snail, and Glover's role in the film is officially described as "Dueling Demi-God Auteur and The young man's inner psyche.". It features swastikas, Shirley Temple in the nude, songs by cult-leader Charles Manson and deals with many types and symbols of racism and prejudice."

I must see this film. Now.

It's a strange strange film. I worked in post a few years ago in New York at a place that does digital intermediates. Crispin had us do some work on that film. He's a strange guy to talk to on the phone and a bit of a pushover.

Well in all fairness if i called up a place and Darth Vader answered the phone I'd be a bit intimidated too.

And i second Trooper on needing to see this flick.

What most stars and other Hollywood participants get is a cut not of the DVD revenue itself but of a 20 per cent “royalty”. The other 80 per cent goes to a subsidiary of the studio, the home entertainment division. In other words, in the conventional deal for most other stars, one arm of the corporation collects all the money from DVDs and then pays a mere 20 per cent of it to the studio, which then becomes the “gross” number that the studios report to participants.

Some really good info from FT:
