Does anyone know how to make the render time for flipping the image shot with the M2 adapter in FCP any shorter? It takes FOREVER to do one small clip.. about 4 min for a 1 min clip!! I have 18 hours of footage to flip!! Thats 72 hours to render it all!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

get a faster mac?

also, if you just want to watch the footage, you can turn down full rez playback to like 25%. it will be a little pixelated but fine for editing in real time.

just a note, my Macbook Pro doesnt need to render full flipped and color corrected footahe to play back at full rez on an external HDTV monitor.

its a 2.0 ghz with 256mb video ram. id time is money, then invest in a new machine and SAVE

I don't have anywhere near that length of time for rendering the flipped image. I am running a G5 dual 2.0 with 6 gig of ram (not that the ram will make much difference)

You are getting a 4:1 render time.

On a 12" powerbook with FCP 5.0.4, 720p24 project shot in 720p24pN my render time is about 2:1 on the internal disk. Setting the clip's "Motion -> rotation" property to 180 gives me about 2.5:1. Using "Video Filters -> Perspective -> Flop" filter set to "both" gives me 2:1.

And on a dual G5 using either method, no rendering is required.

Guess editing on the G4 is out! hahaha.. We'll do it on the dual G5 from a friend.. :-)

Thanks guys..

When I started a project early this year I convinced the director that shooting with the M2 looks great and is easy to compensate for the flilp in FCP.

Both things are true but she was editing on a laptop, which as you know cannot real time flip or CC. So you she has to render the flipped footage. Which doubles the amount of space and makes logging much longer.

But she still thought shooting M2 was worth the wait.
