Wedding Music Video - Letus35

seems like it was an interesting wedding..
and that first dance was something, eh?

nice images and coloring.
they should be happy with that.

yeah that first dance was awesome!!

they had it all choreographed. they started off with the elegant ball-room style, and then they broke it down to some M.C. Hammer. everybody loved it.

I just recently got a dvx-100 and would love to be able to shoot and edit a wedding like this. what where your scene settings any stabilization, very smooth? Only negative is towards the end with the interior shots seems to have problems with low lighting. Great composition love the overall look, any cc, 24p?

Let's see here, i can't remember what my scene settings were, but i'm pretty sure my master ped was at -12.

I had it on a tripod the whole time, except for that shot running up to the gate and up the stairs. that was all handheld. Minimal CC was used...just enough to bump the contrast up for the web. and yes it was all 24pa.

I agree with the low-lighting...If I had my way, I'd have that whole room lit nicely, but I'm not that advanced yet. I think lights may be my next purchase.

Loved the look of your footage.

But as far as the later section of the party being that dark, I recommend, and I can only go by my own experience of using the DVX for weddings and Bar Mitzvahs, you would be much better off having your master ped set to 0, and set gamma to Black Press if you really like having crushed blacks. Or at least readjust your master ped as the room gets darker.

I would have a huge problem on my hands if I gave that party footage to my clients. (the dark footage I mean specifically)

A single on camera light would really help as well. I really hate the look of an on cam light, but they set the house lights so low, and the client wants to see their friends and family. If price is a problem, check out the Bescor units on B&H. Make sure to get a charger that auto shuts off when fully charged. My first one had the charger that you have to remember to unplug after 12 hours. A serious pain in the A

talk about orgasmic Letus35...all of it looked great. But Shibuya definitely has had some practice in this field, his advice is wise.

But wow. great job.

what is your rate for weddings?

can i also just say...and i don't want to sound to cheesy...but you really captured the happiness of the newly weds. In your video they seemed so happy, in the truest form possible.

Amazing job. really.

Shibuya- thanks for the advice!

Unix- anything with zooming was just all DVX my man. I only used Letus and a 50mm lens for like 4-5 shots in the very opening.

ahartman- wow! thanks for the extremely high compliments! my rate for weddings...varies. but luckily for this couple they were my test wedding, so it was free! I went from $0, to $500, to $2000....so you see it depends on the situation.

a wedding music video. cool and fresh. i usually can't stand to watch wedding videos. dude your work is looking really good. you were in all the right places with great comps. big

That was great footage during the daytime. I thought the in the hall shots were dark. I hope I can get those trype of result for my X-35 I am building.

How did you maintain the focus while zooming? Did you have a Follow focus?

Actually, a lot of my up-close shots are a bit out of focus...but no, i didn't have a follow-focus. what's an x-35?

Well since everyone names there DIY 35mm after certain things: Home Depot 35, Pepsi 35, Letus 35, M35, etc...

I thought I would name mine the "X-35", since my handle is X-Angel and favorite letter is "X"... I figured "What the hell.. I call it the X-35"

I actually thought of that as I was responding to your post a few minutes ago.

It's based a lot of out Edweirdo's design. A few mods... the parts are coming in for it....(remember I am in Kosovo)

Being an aspiring Wedd Videog myself, I was curious to see when someone was shoot a wedding with a 35mm adapter. Like I said..the outside day footage was GREAT. Inside was a little dark...couldn't see people very clearly. (That's not a criticism, just an observation...)

Of course, you probably couldn't have just taken it of...because the footage might have looked too different? (maybe? I dunno...)

TJ,
Great footage. I echo the previous comments. This seems like a wedding where people really had fun so it was fun to watch for us as well. I have been to some weddings where people are just stiff and simply stand there. This couple seemed to be very extroverted and showy which is good for your footage.

Did you have just one camera or was there a second person helping you out? I'm starting to work on the whole wedding stuff and I only have the DVX so I'm wondering what people like me would normally do other than buying another dv camera. With just one is easy to miss shots and that kind of stuff.

Oh, and one more question -- Did you use lavs for the audio?

Why does the groom look and act like an A-List hollywood actor? Besides the LOOK of the reception footage, I liked it all. Of course I won't be dancing at my wedding. My woman doesn't like dancing either, so we're good.

yeah, I only had one camera.
This was the second wedding I ever did, and since I had no idea what I was doing, I did it for free. And no lavs for the audio either...the audio really sucks on this one. But the couple will just be glad that I'm giving them something- they're extremely nice people.
