Friends by the Salem shore

This is some footage I took of two of my friends at around 6pm with the sun low in the sky. There was no method, only a bunch of shots that is now cut together with an Antony and the Johnsons song. It was shot at detail +7 and vdetail +7. It's pretty grainy, though I think the res of this video isn't high enough for it to be terribly noticeable. The main thing about this that bugs me it the brightness. When I watch it on a video monitor it looks good, on my crt it looks pretty good, but on the lcd at work it looks way too dark. I feel like I'm designing websites for cross browser compatability. When I make something of more substance and put it on DVD I feel like a have to include a calibration screen. For me I guess it's a question of how far to take cc. I generally like a slightly darker image, with nothing blown out and very black blacks. I guess the main thing I want to know is how it looks on other peoples monitors.

To be honest.. I had to turn up my brightness/contrast just to see it better.. its a little TOO dark I think maybe you might just want to raise up the GAMMA (not the brightness/contrast).. in terms of shooting.. its pretty good.

Looks real good to me. I have a MAC HD LCD. At the size you have it saved, it looks very good.

yep looked ace.. low sun is looking really nice and the edge lit is perfect.. nice!

I will be up in Beverly for dinner tomorrow night, amazing amount of great restaurants for such a small town.

Did you have your detail coring up given your other detail settings, putting it up will smooth things out a bit. I like the footage, you can't go wrong at magic hour in my book. EDIT = woops - just realized this was a DVX clip, don't kow if my comment is relevent.

I used to walk there as a kid... grew up in Beverly MANY moons ago. Lived on Lothrop st... GREAT house as a kid... well - HS.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I live in Beverly myself, right next to the Salem bridge. About the detail coring, honestly I don't remember, but I don't think I had figured that out yet. About the restaurants, yes I think so too. Also there is a new Indian place that's very good called Anmol on Rantoul St, and Luigi's has my favorite pizza of all time.
