"where one stands" - a friend of mine's project

this is a teaser that my friend chris jones is working on. some of the stuff i've shot...well in this clip more than half...i think it's looking pretty good and not because of me i think chris is editing the project nicely. his vision is coming to pass.

both files are about 16MBs. right now i'm a little concerned with the quicktime there's a couple of glitches in the beginning. i'm trying to figure out why that's happening...so this time around the windows media file came out better :unsure:
 
Well first of all, I personally do not feel the music fit the trailer. Seeing as how I have no clue what the movie is about I can only assume it's about some sort of martial arts gang war type club. Assuming this I don't feel the music really fit. Seemed more like something that belonged in a movie about drugs. Some shots themselves looked good, others looked very overdramatic, and others just plain ol' bland and boring (around 1:32 in the trailer). It's not yours but that's just what I feel is wrong.
 
The music was pretty good.. although the robot really annoyed me.. The outside shots don't look as professional and beautiful as the inside shots. I really am interested in watching the movie!!

I guess the biggest thing which should be fixed should be the consistency in color.. the outside shots and the inside shots don't match in variation and some shots are too dark, some shots are too light...

Overall not bad.
 
hmmm, personally i feel that the music, visuals, and concept definitely struck a chord with me and are entirely compelling. who does the music? there are some close ups that seem to be a bit flat. i was really drawn in by some of the romance scenes - there is a certain careful approach to those moments that i appreciated. decent lighting! where can we see the whole thing? see ya.

i had nothing to do with the music so i don't know who it is...he (chris jones) told me it was an unsigned band. as for the darks and lights chris edited and was experimenting with some stuff. i will pass on your thoughts though because i think a couple were a little dark myself. as for outside v. inside i shot most of the inside stuff and a couple of the outside like the beginning arch scene with jared and vanessa. the two night scenes towards the end where chris throws the two kicks...i'm responsible for...we started kinda in the magic hour (which is very fleeting) and ran out of light. we might reshoot that. chris wanted to get as much done before our local festival. next time i set up the full night time gear :)

the music...i'll get that info and pass it on to you. romance scene hmmm...the kiss on the bed might've been done by jared (we were tag teaming that night - taking turns shooting and holding the boom) lighting the one main thing i can take some credit for...chris digs my lighting. matter of fact the scene where he's on the bed talking to karla is actually lighter than what you're seeing. he darkened it to emphasize the highlight on the edge of his head/face.

to everyone interested in seeing the complete production i will definitely let you know. we're still shooting and chris, although a devout perfectionist :grin:, will have the edit done soon. so please stay tuned.
