Hey guys,

I have just filmed several things on 720p/25p mode and am happy with the footage I shot. However I come to my computer, and attempt to upload and the computer doesnt even detect the camera. I have it set to 1394 Device and get it to that screen, both firewire points are connected perfeclty and it still says "1394 Device Disconnect" - no matter how long I wait. Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance

Are you switching to VTR mode, and then pressing and holding the button again for about two seconds?

Argh, sorry, I'm a PC guy. :(

The only other generic advice I can offer is a) make sure you're using IEEE DEVICE mode and not IEEE HOST mode in the HVX, and b) try another cable and if possible another Firewire port.

Try another cable and another computer. Macs have a horrible habit of blowing up firewire ports if you hot-swap (plug-in or unplug with the power on both devices).

Does it work in log 'n' capture if you just put the camera in camera mode and stream live footage to the mac?

It looks like that is what I have done - how stupid do I feel. Peter go to your nearest Apple dealer - if you got warranty/extended warranty they told m they will repair it free of charge.

Can you damage a pc if you hotswap a firewire cord while it's on? I have been doing it for years, but if there is a chance it will ruin the computer, I"ll stop.

You can lose data on the external drives by doing that. You want to safely remove hardware. You can set-up a PC for hotswap but I advise against it.

I stopped. I've done it a hundred times (probably more like a thousand) but after all the reports of blown ports I quit doing it.
