Well, I finally tried my luck at a music video and I'm actually somewhat happy with it. I should probably tell you right now that the bands name is Panda. That would explain the random pandas during the video....

We tried to do just a performance video, but tried to spice it up a little with a few things of our own. The only thing I'm not too happy about is the fact that I went out so wide for a lot of it, but oh well. Go check it out.

Here's the bands myspace if you'd like to check them out a little more. They're just a local band that I've been friends with for a while. They're pretty awesome though if I do say so myself.

Nice. The pans are a bit rough... but it's pretty cool. Basic, but that's OK. I'll bet the bands happy with it.

I like the "experiemental" aspects of it.

Only shot I wasn't a fan of was the stairway one with the three guys playing on the stairs. Just didn't seem as outrageous as the other stuff and felt out of place.

But definitely a ton of fun and fit hte music well!

Yeah, I've gotten that comment before. There is a bit of a backstory though, it's fun! I'll tell you!

We were shooting the diet coke/mentos thing where it shot up behind them and for that we needed a drill to drill the tops of the bottles where we would drop the mentos in that were threaded by strings. The drill was left out(on top of the case though) and one of the guys in the bands walks past it and stubs his toe on the drill. Apparently the cut was so bad he had to go to the hospital to get stitches. We only had 2 days to shoot the video so we just kinda said forget it we'll figure out how to work without him. He ends up calling us up at 11 and they just really wanted that one part with him in it, but his mom wouldn't let him out. So we had to go over his house and just film that one part there, therefore making it out of place and totally not along with the rest of the video.

Oh well, there's always a little chaos.

As for the pans :( I cried a little bit each time watching them. Practice practice practice I guess.

I really enjoyed the video. It was very fun to watch! You can't complain when it comes to girls and bubbles. Did you do some selective color correction when he jumps in the pool? I only watched it once so far, so I will have to go back and frame-by-frame it. Good stuff, man.
 
Oh! The pool!

I actually didn't do any, it was really quite weird because his pool has lights that change colors. When he jumped in the color was purple and when the waters sprayed up like that it looks pink. It was just something cool that happened by accident.
 
That was a hella fun video. the performances were very energetic and I really liked the song.

There were a few WTF moments in the video, but I like that kind of thing... :)

The only thing I would change would be the flashing shots during the piano playing sequence.

Very cool. Great job.
 
That first wide shot looks different from the rest in the video. I like the look. It reminds me of the 60's/70's retro color palette that is starting to get popular in MVs. How did you manage it?
 
Hey that's awesome stuff I would like to release here in Holland!
Only minor drawbacks of the clip is the unsmooth movements of the camera.

Ryan, can you hook me up to the band for discussing to release this song & clip?

I liked it, but hated the shot on the stairs. I was definately entertained the whole time. Original. The first shot looked very film-like.

Yeah man good job i really like the opening alot all the way up until you show hands on the actual keys then it takes a crazy turn that i just personally didnt like but i did like the video i just thought the opening was so good in opinion and quality looked really good going from the three of him dancing to the inside of the piano back to the pan with the guy inthe top hat was really feeling all of that alot.
