Playback Cameras - Which handle 24p?

Does anyone know of a couple cheap camcorders that will playback and display timecode for all of the DVX's framerates? (24pn, 24pa, 30p, 60i) I have a GS120, however it only works with playingback 60i, no timecode appears for progressive framerates.

I use a PV-GS120 I used to have to capture all my footage. works great so far

Really?! Did it display timecode for 24p video? What application did you use for capturing?

I'm pretty sure it showed TC. Half the time I forget to hit index on the camera so it doesn't even set a TC when I record anyway. I use Premire Pro 2.0 HD.

odd, did you try playing back a tape shot on your DVX in 24p? Look at the LCD...it should say 00h00m00f constantly.

If you still have the camera, would you mind looking at the screen to see if timecode is displayed? I'd be interested to hear what you find.

24p is still 30fps, there will never be any problems playing back 24p footage on any mini dv camera.

Then why is it that Final Cut Pro can't find any timecode and the camera doesn't show any timecode?

Timecode is a separate issue from FPS, My Sony PC330 doesn't show timecode either but if the footage was recorded on my DVX @ 24fps the sony can't change that. If you require a timecode then you'll have to ensure the camcorder has that feature and it's not some off the wall feature that doesn't match the Panny version of timecode.

I will look after it gets back from the shop, my LCD went out

I just got an email yesterday saying it was repaired but it is being sent to my parents house in memphis. I am in college near nashville. they are bringing it to me in a couple of weeks. I do have a friend that just got a new gs-250 I can ask him if you would like in the mean time.

what's recorded basically is data and the playback camera will read it. however if the camcorder doesn't display timecode doesn't mean it wasn't recorded or that it won't pass on that info to the NLE. i've captured from other camcorders and in my NLE (premiere) the timecode reads as it did when recorded. so what i guess you're really looking for is a camcorder that shows timecode. as stated above it's going to be 29.97fps regardless of mode...that's how the info is recorded.
