Motocross footage shot with an HVX

I loved the energy of that vdeo and the choice of music -- very nicely done.

My only criticism is that the still images at the end seem to suck the life out of the video.
 
yes, still didn't really do it for me. Love the look of the piece though.. Looked really sweet.. clean. filmic. What were your settings?

Yeah that shot came out pretty good. Too bad the white of the starting gate is blown out. It was nice having the rider jump out of the gate first.

I totally agree. I had a list of races to film and unfortunately all of the riders who I didn't film won, and all that I did film failed to win. The photos were a client request. I threw this together really quickly.

As for settings, I work off shutter degrees vs. shutter speed. In my opinion, (whatever that is worth) much of the slo mo I see from posted HVX footage looks like video due to too slow of a shutter speed/ too open of a shutter. I tend to shoot a tight shutter angle - 180 to 90 degrees.

Agreed, the first rider popping out is nice. I didn't really notice the blown out white the first time I watched it so I went back and watched it again, but I don't think its too big of a deal, its still a good shot.
 
What track was that shot at, the gate shots looked like Millville...which is going on right now...

It was shot last week at the track located on Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills Tennessee. I was shooting the Amateur National Championship.
 
I knew that was LL ranch, I raced there way way back in the 80's. That brought back some good memories! Great work, did you do it for Fox?
