Zombie High - spec pilot trailer

Hey everyone, after a long post-production I'm happy to present the promo trailer for our show "Zombie High". This show was shot with an original DVX100, stock lens. I co-wrote, DP'd, color graded, edited some, and did visual effects on the piece. We're pretty pleased with it and shopping it around for a home. Thought you'd all like to see it.

(it's h264 Quicktime, so if you can't see anything, you need Quicktime 7.)

Any and all comments welcome!

I thought you did a good job on that. I'd pay to see it. As a Pilot, though? Seems like a hard premise to keep fresh for a series. This seems like it would work much better as a feature. Just my

I didnt care for the content, but i could watch the girl in the green dress and her big boobs floppin around for an hour and a half...Most of the shots were lit awesomely, particularly on the b-ball court, and outside....I wouldnt mind seeing those same characters minus the Zombie theme...they are funny, and potentially just as interesting without it.....Keep your actors away from those boring asss white wall.Good stuff.

Thanks guys! The whole show as you can tell was shot on location at an actual prep school through some awesome favors. Blaine, we've got a whole season outlined and a rough plan for one or two more ready to go. We're also thinking about it as a potential shorter web/mobile series.

At least you've done your homework. What do I know, anyway. Who would have thought that a series that covered JUST 24 hours of time could sustain a whole season. Good luck with it. I liked what I saw.

I think that's WHY "24" works.....Dougspice.dont sell yourself short on this one...The web thing may be easier, but hell try to get a distributor.Or do as much as you can yourself.I'll buy the pilot on DVD...and subsequent ep's if they are good.

Oh, we're not backing down before we get it out there! The creator of this has good contacts in development so we're taking it a few places. #1 goal is definitely to get it picked up for cable somewhere. But if that fails, web distribution is definitely heating up right now.

Fun fact about 24: they actually had not very much of the first season planned out beforehand. And you can pretty much tell by hour 8 or 10.

Douglas,lol....If you get picked up for cable they will retool the hell out of your damn show, fire all your current actors and get 90210 rejects to play your characters.Im about to release a series...But its going on DVD,and im going to do most of the legwork old school.I think alot of good stuff gets overlooked in the shuffle in the overly saturated web route....But what the hell do i know.

I don't know guys. Comments like these really make me ask myself--am I totally retarded?

I think the characters/setting in combination with the ZOMBIE THEME*cough*... make this ZOMBIE MOVIE funny.

My dad said he's going to let me out of my cage for a few hours so I can hopefully see big-breasted women walking in the park--but then I don't get any meat tonight.

...

Damn i gave the guy his props fox.reeeellllaaaax...I just think the Zombie thing has been overdone. And the kid is obviously skilled enough to not need a theme that won't bear much fruit long into the future. And whats wrong with enjoying breasts?Shes obviously in the picture for more than ONE reason.,....But nah i dont think you're retarded fox.But i dont know you either.

Haha guys. bang, I absolutely know that they'll recast and reshoot the show if it gets picked up, but hey, it's not my brainchild and I'll get a decent cut of the money if that happens, possibly stay on as a writer. They can do whatever they want with it, honestly. But if you come up with any good tips on self-distribution (I'm not at all familiar with how to do that for a series), I'm all ears!

By the way, the big breasted girl (we had to get that shot in the trailer, of course!) is also the creator and head writer. We were very, very hesitant about her insistence on playing the lead, but in retrospect she does a damn fine job, I think.

I agree that zombies are sorta over for now. If we'd got this out two years ago, it'd be a different story. But whatever. It's what we made, and I'm just happy if some people happen to like it. Keep the comments comin'!

Reckon I'll bump this so a few more people can see it. I'm doing another version with a different take on the color timing now, but I think I'll prefer this one.

Well, I watched it again with the new color. I watched them side by side and I have to say the new on looks better, color-wise.

Something occurred to me watching this time, though. I saw some very strong parallels to the movie (as opposed to tv show) Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it kind of bugged me, particularly since I enjoyed that movie so much. For me the most interest thing about the video was the use of the notebook. I really liked that.

It's just my opinion so take it for what you feel it's worth.

I never saw the movie, just the show. I'll add it to the list of things I intend to check out but won't ever actually get to... :)

Thanks for the opinion.

HUGE difference. The movie knew what it was and never took itself seriously. I felt the TV show DID take itself seriously. The movie was full blown comedy. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
