Just got off the phone with Anthony Dod Mantle... he's using the HVX on a new doc-style independent film. For those who don't recognize the name, he's just about the most famous indie/video cinematographer and something of a hero among Canon XL1 and miniDV fans because "28 Days Later" was a breakthrough film for a miniDV camcorder -- a $15 million budget shot on prosumer miniDV. Dod Mantle also shot the very first Dogme95 film "Festen" ("The Celebration") as well as "Julien Donkey Boy" and has won or been nominated over a dozen times for "best cinematography" at various film festivals.. He's just started working with the HVX and so far he says he loves it.

That is great news. I wonder if he'll still feel the need to use a separate lens adapter on the HVX like they used on 28 Days Later. I think it was the mini35.

Of course we (I) recognize the name !

Awesome.

Mantle used Optex adapters on 28 Days Later with Canon Primes. Check out the bitchen article at ASC

That's so sweet. Celebration is one of my favorite movies. Didn't they shoot that on a single chip DV cam.

John.. Tha'ts quite some Baby. No wonder Zombie picked her as his dammed queen.

i really like all of his stuff and look forward to seeing what he does with the HVX. IMO the work he did on Festen at the time was groundbreaking.
