I'm heading up to the mountains to shoot a skiing doc...

Still not sure which format to go with... would love to use the 720 25pn but having issues importing test into FCP 5.0.4.. I have Avid XPro 5.5 but not sure if it supports 25p yet..

Have had good results shooting 1080i...

Test footage can be viewed at http://les.herstik.com/gallery2/main.php

Because it will probably all be quick movement shots might just be better to stick with 1080i...

Any thoughts...

I'm not a Mac guy, but even I know that FCP 5.0.4 has major problems with handling HVX video.

Just did a test with P2 log and it does convert the 720pn footage into a .mov that I can use in FCP 5.0.4....

Can you set up sound to be recorded while shooting in variable frame rates...

What's the pit fall of shooting 720pn ... or is it just best to go for the full 1080i..

Cheers

As you long as you keep the frame rate at 25 and you don't overcrank or undercrank you will have sound. Other than that there's no pitfall, you're only gaining by having 8 min. on a 4gb card and not having to strip frames off when in editing....
