When you guys sent in the rebate, did you do it online, or did you print out the downloadable form from Panasonic online and mail it in? Is there a difference in the amount of time, money, and software is recieved, one way or another? The other thing that I am wondering is, the DVX Book. Is it the DVX Book AND DVX-DVD, or just the book. (I seen somewhere that there is a Barry Green combo DVX Book & DVX DVD. Is this the same? I know that you get the Magic Bullet software, I was curious about the book/dvd, because it looks like it would help me. Better at visual understanding of something, than having to read about it. HATE TO READ!!!
Thanks guys for the patience

So Steve you must have gotten a little visit from the little brown turtle to bring your CAM. When I applied for the rebate I did it on line it is much faster than having to mail it in which means you will need to send a copy of the receipt as well.

Best,

Rob

ummmmm, did you actually recieve your dvx from newegg, because last i checked they were a grey market seller. i was going to buy mine there until i found out. basically any online camera shop that is from new york that sells cameras for cheap is a BIG no.

Well, NewEgg must be based in California, because that is where mine shipped from. I haven't got it yet. I just checked, it's somewhere between Louisville & Detroit. It's purposed delivery date is tomorrow. Can anyone answer my DVX Book/DVD question? I figured that it would be quicker to register for the rebate online, but I thought that I had heard something negative about that somewhere here on this site. I'm excited.

Just to throw my 2 cents in about newegg....everything I have ever ordered from newegg (Including my DVX100b, has been perfect, with absolutely the fastest delivery times of any online retailer I have used. I recieved the $400 rebate, and the DVX book and CD. Newegg is a quality retailer in my exerience.
hope this helps

Are you sure that rebate site is legit? They could easily just be Brooklyn camera sales scumbags fishing serial numbers and sending in the rebates themselves. Has anyone had success with this online form?

NewEgg is the B&H of computers. Very reliable, very honest, very credible, been around a long time.

NewEgg is just about the only mail order company I use for computer parts.

If only they were a Nikon dealer for the last 4 years, and a full line Panasonic dealer now (HVX anyone?).....

Newegg is actually legit? After rebate, the 100B comes down to $2,850; while at B&H, it's $3,150. The whole reason I purchased my dvx100A before 100B came out was because I "knew" it would be much cheaper ($2,900); now, afterseeing the 100b for cheaper than my 100A from B&H; I'm thinking I got ripped off. Hallotp; are you sure you didn't just get lucky? This is a really good deal.

I registered online and got my rebate in 4 weeks. The DVX Book did come with the dvd and I got it in less than a week after I registered.

You used online form in the URL in this thread, specifically? I just find it completely odd that Panasonic would allow an online form that bypasses the UPC label from the camera box. Also that page looks very fishy - pun intended. I registered on it having recieved my newegg order, but am now concerned.
-----update-----
Found the .PDF rebate form on the new egg site and this is printed on the form:
For questions or rebate status, please call: (866) 339-4296
I called the number (Tennessee) and they have me in their database. Sweet . So apparently that online form is indeed legit, new egg is indeed a great place to purchase from, and the $350 rebate does come with the book and magic bullet software. Cue porn music my fears are allayed.

Legit in the sense that they ship what they sell, and they do their best to label things accurately.

But do they know anything about panasonic products beyond the SKU on the outside of the box? Doubtful. Are they a panasonic dealer? I don't know. What kind of warranty? It looks like a Panasonic USA warranty to me... but there may be opportunities for panasonic to be dicks about honoring it.

Also, you have to understand the concept of the "expected margin" for different kinds of businesses. NewEgg is used to operating on a very low margin. Maybe it's 10% Maybe it's 25%. Whatever it is, it's the lowest they can get away with, because for PC parts, thats the only way to stay in business. If they can buy something and flip it for their standard margin, then they don't care what it is, they do it.

Camera dealers have a different business model. They have support. They have rent. They have employees that (theoretically) know something. They have a limited supply of certain products, and certain high margin "prestige" products, like a HVX or a Nikon D2x bring customers in who end up buying lower margin but higher volume "bread a butter" products like $400 dvd camcorders and D50's. They are not "accustomed" to living on absolute rock bottom margin.

For what it's worth, B&H is cheaper, but if you are the kind of customer who needs to go to the store and ask how things work, or for direction or advice... buy from your local store. Sure its a couple hundred bucks you _could_ have saved. But unless you are honorable enough to then FOREGO the support of the local guys... you don't really deserve to save the bucks.

I did do it online -- I believe that is the url. I seem to recall that we are NOT supposed to publish the url or Panny may take it down. I believe that some fraud did occur where someone figured out the serial numbers and got a few rebates. My guess is that they are doing a lot more due diligence now and could explain why some buyers are experiencing longer delays than others. Just speculating there.

Either way, there are enough threads here concerning the rebates that we probably don't need to rehash anything else on this one.

Just to stick my neck in too, I ordered from newegg back in June, received it in a few days, got the software and book yesterday and am anxiously, breathlessly, impatiently waiting for the check. Fingers crossed too...

after a lot of research, i decided to go with Newegg because of the lower price and because I've bought a lot of things from them in the past and been impressed with their quick shipping. I haven't had any issues with things i've purchased from them, but i've read nothing but good things about their customer service. So if all goes well i'll have my DVX100b in a few days!

Thanks to all of you for all the help you've unconsciously provided. :)

Please do not, I repeat do not publish the website if you know it. Otherwise it will be a paper trail for everyone.

thank you,

Jan

I plan on ordering mine in about 25 days or so just before the rebate ends. I know newegg is an incredible site in prices, delivery, etc. so im confident that everything will be just fine.

ummm. newegg is out of stock on the dvx now. soooo maybe their next supply of DVX's won't be legit.

just a thought!
Why'd you have to say that? I prefered to revel in my naivety at least until my camera got here. Now you have me pissing in my boots.

Oh well. I called newegg the minute I ordered and told them if my 100b was grey market, I was going to return it. They noted my account.

So I called the Panasonic Rebate Vixen and inquired about my in-transit 100B. She told me verbatim: "We usually never have problems with newegg, but do call me right back once you have the box and we'll check."

Anyway, I'm slightly enthusiastic.

If this works out, I think the "rip off" discussion should be directed towards B&H and other authorized dealers. It looks to me that they're the ones overcharging because they know of the knowledge that exists on this forum. I'm referring their $500 plus "play it safe" charge.

I'm not trying to start a flame war - I know there's a lot of B&H loyalists here. But I'm starting to think the authorized dealer price seems more like a "tax" when the same product could be gotten elsewhere, cheaper, and not grey market.

B&Hs prices are competitive for 99% of the stuff I've seen outside of their DVX cameras. These prices don't even try to be competitive. Yes, I understand you're guarenteed a USA cam, but does anyone think that THEY are taking advantage of us with an authorized dealer charge?

Yeah, I know, "Rubix³, talk to me when you get your newegg camera." If I get screwed, I'll eat all of these words. But I think it's up for discussion.

Outside of this, I'm really anxious to jump on the 100B wagon. Dying, in fact. I'm possibly just days away....
