Grabs from trip to Europe

Hi folks,

I took the HVX to a trip to Europe (she has never been before). We did a lot of travelling - twelve countries visited. I am way too busy to put together a clip in the foreseeable future, so hHere are just some grabs - uncorrected of course. I made the pics smaller so they fit on my upload folder... Enjoy!

A Montmartre still life, complete with a bra, panties, and something that appear to be high heel shoes:

There is more, but I can only post nine pics at a time, so... let me know if you want to see more!

Cheers!

It was a very busy visit (everything crammed into one day), but it was very nice, and totally worth it.

Then, of course, my old homeland (a.k.a. Czechistan). A lot of old stuff - castles, cemeteries, etc. Here are just a few:

The Karlstejn castle - built by Charles IV, who was the Holy Roman Emperor and the King of Bohemia back in 1300s - if you travel to Prague and take a walk on Charles bridge, that's named after him. He founded the Charles University. It was "the first university east of Rhine and North of Alps", which doesn't seem such a big deal when you look at the map. When you actually TRAVEL between the places, and imagine 1300s with its density of population, modes of travel, etc. you realize how huge a deal it must have been then. Oh - the founding gift by the Emperor was four books - one for each faculty (law, medicine, theology, philosophy).

He built this castle as a fortress to guard the Bohemian crown jewels:

There are over 2000 other castles and chateaus in Czech rep. Not all of them are as well preserved. Here is Zubstejn, a ruin of a gothic fortress not far from my home town. It is only about fifty years older than the castle above (late 1200s):

One of the centuries old cemeteries. It's interesting how the old and not so old co-exist. This shot is from some footage I took for a doc I've been working on (progressing a waaay slower than I'd like to, BTW)

Austria was, as always, beautiful bordering on kitsch. It is my favourite country (my daughter was born in Vienna), and I always make sure I visit for at least a drive-through. That sounds both snobby and stupid, but it's a small country, so going for a Sunday drive can cover a lot of ground. Not like here in Canada, where you drive for ten hours and you are still in the southern tip of southern Ontario :) .

Atomium in Brussels. It doesn't look so, but those spheres are huge. There are people inside them, and the 'tubes' have stairs and escalators inside.

And finally, a grab from a street scene from Amsterdam:

Oh, I want to go again...
